R1T was at service center for several routine issues. Was backed into by a transport vehicle. Is now at body shop for repair. Any suggestions on how to approach diminished value
Issue with Rivian?

At least they are repairing it. Happened with an old VW. When I approached dealership, they said my wife needs to learn to drive and threatened to have me arrested if I ever returned.

Ugh. Sorry to hear about the incident.

If something like that happened to my car - I'd contact a diminished value claim appraiser.

Sorry this happened. When I visit the service centers I try to not park directly in front of or very near to the entrance or other highly trafficked areas for this reason. Rivian will get it fixed up. No expert here....but...diminished value typically involves getting an appraisal...someone who specializes in it...to show the difference between a vehicle with no accident history and one with. These things are worth a consult with an attorney who specializes in these types of claims.

I’m not sure this will show up as an accident as it happened at a service center and Rivian is fixing it. If it doesn’t go on the car’s history there is no diminished value so no need to claim it.

That depends on how invisible the repair work is. If it’s been obviously repainted or sectioned then the value still takes a massive hit, which should be accounted for.

You need to be realistic and honest about the condition that your r1 went in at @Lberryle , but under no circumstances accept it back worse than it went in without some form of compensation. Accidents happen, but corporate insurance exists for a reason.

True. I commented based on the assumption that the repair would be indistinguishable from the factory's new standard. I wouldn't accept a sub-par repair regardless of the involvement of a diminished value claim. It was dropped of in X condition and it needs to be returned in X or better condition because that's my expectation when I put the vehicle under the care of the service center. I expect the same from them as I would a friend borrowing my vehicle. Don't break the fucking thing, and if you do fix it as good or better than it was.
