Y'all know there's a manual release to unlock the plug, right? It's right there in the manual ...
I am 5 days into ownership of a lightly used 2024 R1T. With electrical work going on at home I've used a local tesla supercharger and both times the adapter has been challenging... today I could not disconnect my vehicle from the charger: the charger was stuck in the adapter, and the adapter was stuck in the charge port. I called Rivian customer service and was told to press the adapter release button on top while pulling hard downwards. No luck. Then instructed to do a reset (left button beside left scroll wheel on steering wheel and hazard light button). No luck. Next I was instructed to pull the manual release from under trim in frunk, which solved the problem BUT I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD LIKELY NOT BE ABLE TO LEVEL 3 CHARGE UNTIL SERVICE APPOINTMENT set up next week. No one else seems to say that pulling the manual release has implications for level 3 charging. Anyone know about this supposed side effect of pulling the manual release?

I have a Gen 2 , R1T 2025 with the little button to the left of the charge port and I have found that you need to a) be sure the care is unlocked b) hold in the little button to the left of the charge port and c) then press down on the button on the CCS plug with potentially pushing in slightly to take the pressure off the release mechanism. Working more consistently for me using that order. Good luck.

It doesn't - it's just a mechanical release.

I think what the customer service person means is that if you got your adapter stuck in the charge port several times in a row, they recommend not charging like that (with an adapter, at a Tesla supercharger) until you've had it looked at. Because it's likely it will happen again until you determine the cause.

Note that some third-party (non-Rivian) adapters have had problems with getting stuck, so if you're using one of those chances are it's the adapter that's the problem.

I spoke to another rivian support person, and they said that 'most people pull the mechanical release cable too hard, and it's delicate" and so highly recommended having it checked

Yeah, the manual says to pull it "gently", it's just meant to move a little plastic lever a small distance. If you pulled too hard and it popped out of its clips, then you can manually put it back. There have been a few recent threads here which show some pictures.
