R2 Color Ranking

As order emails come in, what is our ranking of the R2 performance colors? For me, it all depends when it would become available as I'd want one sooner rather later. All things being equal, here is my ranking:

Borealis (with Coastal Cloud)
Forest Green (with Black Crater)
Launch Green (with Black Crater)
Catalina Cove (with Coastal Cloud)
Glacier White (with Coastal Cloud)
Half Moon Grey (with Black Crater)
Midnight (with Coastal Cloud)
Esker Silver (with Coastal Cloud)

Also added what interior I'd go with next to each for fun. Would likely go with the 21s for most but the 20s would look good on the Glacier White and Forest Green.

Forest Green
Half Moon Grey
Catalina Cove
Esker Silver (putting here bc I believe it actually may be very nice)
Launch Green

Midnight

Black seats and cars are a hard pass for me. HOT

I honestly cannot decide. Every day it's different and none of them are grabbing me definitively.

What I can rule out for sure:

Black
Catalina Cove
Borealis
White

As of today... leaning towards

1) Half Moon
2) Forest Green
3) Esker Silver
4) Launch Green

All with Black Crater

Would have liked something more like:

This would be my spec as well. It looks SO good on the R2.

My wife and I have been team Borealis since they put it on R1, unless they change something end LE sooner than previously communicated that’s what we’re going with. After that would be Launch Green, then Catalina Cove for my ranking.

1) Catalina Cove (with Coastal Cloud)
2) Half Moon Grey (with Coastal Cloud)
3) Midnight (with Coastal Cloud) (love this color, but don't want the high maintenance of black)
4) Launch Green (with Black Crater)
5) Forest Green (with Black Crater)
6) Borealis (with Coastal Cloud) (don't think I could rock purple)
7) Esker Silver (with Black Crater)
8) Glacier White (with Black Crater)

In all exterior color choices, interior would be CC. Never been a fan of dark interior.

Rivian really needs to offer Canyon Red, Compass Yellow in addition to the bland colors.

1) Canyon Red (not offered)
2) Boreallis (in few months)
3) Compass Yellow (not offered)

All other colors are meh, and would not select R2, if I were shopping for one.

Different strokes for different folks. Nothing wrong with your taste, but I think you're definitely in the minority and I don't think it would be a good business decision to offer bold paint colors that will have low take rates. I like at least one slot with bold colors. I'd guess that's Boreallis currently.

She had planned on Launch Green and black interior until she saw the Half Moon Gray and OC interior.

Let the waiting begin

Otherwise, it's Launch Green/Black Crater.
I'd take a Catalina Cove/Black Crater if it was given to me.

Zero interest in a light interior or non-colors and a hard pass on purple.

Nothing wrong with your taste, but I think you're definitely in the minority and I don't think it would be a good business decision to offer bold paint colors that will have low take rates. I like at least one slot with bold colors. I'd guess that's Boreallis currently.

Our R1S is White, Model 3 is Silver and I am currently looking for a CPO 2025 Taycan but all I can find is white, 3 different shades of silver in varying darkness, and black. Almost all interior is black. Its all depressing and boring.

I have had 3 silver, 1 champaign gold, mint silver, and a white vehicles in the past 15 years or so. I just would like some color. The most recent vehicle I bought last September is ember orange, the color of my avatar background in metallic. I just would like to find some interesting color that stands out from the sea of monochromatic fleet everywhere. It doesn't have be loud or obnoxious - just different enough to take notice. Thanks to BMW, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan and even Ford, more and more are become available.

In a way, Rivian color options reminds me of Apple's iOS. Rivian find tunes the color palette and interior trim with new models - very much like how Apple fine tunes their app icons and window transparencies and calls it major update..

Rivian sells itself as adventure life style vehicle. There is nothing adventurous about their color palette, except purple which is not available yet. Perhaps RAD additions will change that but for now it's more the same.

Yeah, I get it, I think 1-2 paint slots for adventurous colors would be nice but right now they just need to get these delivered and not create any inefficiencies in production with potentially unpopular colors to the masses. They can offer some bold/limited colors later.

I'll also say it seems like you change cars a lot. I tend to keep my vehicles a long time which is why I lean towards neutrals more. Catalina Cove is adventurous enough for me haha.
