Of course! the steering wheel is turned the other way.

Inevitably, a R2 is going to be something akin to a Bronco Sport/BMW X3 size.

I'm just waiting for the D2 option package on the vehicle, that's going to be out of this world!

Hopefully they keep the iconic stadium headlights with the R2.

If that drawing is a fair representation of what the R2s will be like, I'm interested. It appears to have the ground clearance, as well as approach/departure angles to handle some rough going.

So many of these SUV's are big on sport, but not much on utility. At least not what I consider utility. I suppose utility could include hauling a load of people. The utility I'm looking for is driving in snow and on rough terrain.

What I don't want is an SUV with low ground clearance and a pushed out nose. All I can think of when I see that design is going into a big water bar on a logging road and plowing the nose into the dirt.

Can't wait for March 7!

I think one thing that really will help is the suspension that they developed for the R1 that allows flexibility for different driving conditions. Many SUVs attempting to be "rugged" struggle with the balance between off-road performance and on road comfort, but Rivian has a system that allows you to change instantly from one to another.

I'm still shocked at how quickly the feel changes from Soft to Stiff when switching from one to another, and how noticeable it is.

If they are going to deliver on the promise of a cheaper vehicle, more than a few features in the R1 series will have to go.

I'm looking for an overall package that hauls my outdoor gear to the places I want to go. Beyond that, I'm not sure what to expect from the R2.

Given the hump seen in the rear of the covered sneak peak and the hump in the rear on the patent image, I suspect this is a likely representation of the R2S (“representation” because look at the R1T in the patent image, it’s somewhat rounded in areas that are definitely straight).

Also, I agree, if we want the R2 to succeed and Rivian to eventually sell hundreds of thousands of these, it’s got to be affordable. And anything stock with great off roading capabilities is more expensive. I suspect ground clearance will be acceptable, that it will not have air suspension (too expensive and for vehicle longevity and affordable maintenance post warranty), smaller roof window, the hood will probably require manual closing, among other things.

IMO much more likely that the hydraulic suspension carries over than the air suspension. I would expect the R2 to have the dynamic hydraulic system with a set height similar to "Standard." It's possible that they would offer the air suspension for higher trim models, but I doubt it for manufacturing simplicity.
I'd love that!
