I love the distinctive look of the R1 headlights and light bar. However, as a child of the eighties I can't say I'm fond of the taillights.

Rivian R1T R1S R2 styling: what would you keep/discard from the R1? 264595

What aspects of the R1 do you want to see in the R2?

I would change the headlights and light bar design. I personally like rear taillights/ taillight bar.

I think it depends on what the actual size, shape of the R2 ends up being, but I would keep the headlights, light bar design. It's unique to Rivian.

I would delete the long hood for more of a minivan look up front.

The long hood looks really good and I love using the frunk, but especially in a scaled down R2 if I could trade 12" of hood for an extra 12" in the cabin I would do it in a heartbeat.

I could see Rivian massaging the controversial headlights to be more circular a la Jeep wrangler, but not doing away with them altogether. I wouldn’t be any them to, I love the headlights personally.
I think if they keep a mostly boxy silhouette with plastic cladding to emphasize adventure aesthetic, I think it will do well.

I would follow the LR defender 110 to 90 look for the R1 to R2. Bit shorter, 2 rows, lighter, sans glass roof, no BT speaker and lets not forget tyres that are readily available in the market. If they can keep the price anywhere near the $40k mark-it will be a hot cake!

All I will say is they’d be dumb not to make a wagon of some sorts.
Wagons only sell in Europe. Americans don’t buy them, that’s why Audi, Volvo, BMW and Mercedes stopped selling them in the US.
