At this point, vertical oval lights and the light bar across the facia and the rear are essentially the trademark for Rivian, very much like the double kidney beans grill for BMW.

Thinner light bar would be nicer than the current, especially for a smaller vehicle. The adventure yellow accent should carry forward too.

I would get rid of the body on frame for unitized body build to keep the cost much lower and better QC. Also have structural battery packs makes lot of sense.

Oui, but more Paris-Dakar, but also somehow less French?
Just add Rivian's variable height air suspension (and watch the uninformed bitch and moan about tire consumption, lolol).

Table stakes items:
- the exterior design / aesthetic / lights ( to all the haters go buy something else ? )
- ACC
- 300+ mi range
- All purpose, conserve, snow modes
- 4WD
- Frunk
- main screen, nav, route planning, battery pre-condition
- auto-fold mirrors, park assist, blind spot and cross traffic warnings
- cross bar anchor points
- stalk and steering wheel controls
- door handles inside and out
- split second row
- limestone paint ; if I buy another Rivian it will definitely be limestone, technically not table stakes as all the colors look awesome but I would hate to see it go

Potential cost savings items I would do without:
- Air suspension
- Compressor
- 3rd row
- Camp speaker
- Driver ++ (the sort of self driving mode)
- Alexa
- Powered frunk motion

Things I am ambivalent about:
- glass roof - would be fine with no glass roof or sunroof but also fine as is, the glass does make it feel “bigger” to passengers in the back
- Anchor points in the tailgate

If I was looking at what R2S could do without (cutting costs):

air compressor
AC outlet
front tow hooks
20” AT tires

this vehicle will be an urban/suburban SUV not a off road ready one

i assume the software controls the same features as the R1S, insurance companies are getting NHSB to mandate sensors and the Driver + on all new vehicles.

The R2S will be an upper end vehicle but hell pickup trucks are $65k+

If following BMW design trends the R2 could have ENORMOUS eyes. That would probably be a hilarious render.

Compare BMW kidney grills from 2001 to now to see what I mean.

I'd love to see a 6ft bed on the R2T, or at least on option for one.

And, as a driver of an eGolf which I love, I hope the R3H is a hot-hatch. (Popular, but not as profitable.)

I don't expect to see the airbag suspension in the R2 series.

I would also expect a downgrade in the seats. Probably not ventilated. Also, lower grade fabric.

What I would very much like to see for the R1t and R2t would be a 'door' in the back of the cab that opens up to permit carrying long options within the vehicle.

I own a small truck with an extended cab and a six foot box. I'm anti-social, so I don't need a crew cab. Sadly, I have pretty much given up ever getting another truck like this again. I can buy a crew cab, if I have to, I guess.

Create some form of opening in the back of the cab to accommodate long things and I'm reaching for my wallet. Even if I still end up with a crew cab and have to occasionally drive with a bunch of passengers.

I also like a canopy on the box. This might be a lot easier if there weren't buttons on the side of the box and a fixed airfoil sticking out from the cab. I doubt I'll get this wish.

Oh yes. And, I do like to carry tire chains, just in case. I have only rarely used them. But, it would be nice if they opened the wheel well up a bit so the basic cable chain could be used with the AT tire option.

Agree with the ventilated seats-i wouldn't notice the absence. Not sure about how much downgrade on the seats you could go beyond what we have now. I would love Rivian to get rid of the air suspension and glass roof. The door idea is nice but I'm not sure Rivian will do that though.

Had to look on Urban Dictionary for the definition of a hot hatch, which sounds kinda dirty.

Still looking.

Lose the glass roof, air suspension, self-presenting door handles, Bosch Motors, Brembro Brakes, huge Pirelli tires and cast wheels, aluminum alloy vehicle body sides, aluminum hood, power tonneau, 800+ HP, power hood, 4-motor option.

R2 needs AWD, 800V charging and at least 5K lbs tow rating and come in at or under $49,990.
