Apologies if there’s a thread for this already, but what’s the timeline everyone has been experiencing from “In Transit” via rail to actually scheduling delivery?

Rail transport is slow and destination of course will be the primary factor in shipping time.

I would expect 3-12 weeks. Rail transport of cars is not capable of expedience. Be patient, your R1 will get to you. Take solace in the fact you have an R1 on it’s way to you!

Thanks man! Yeah I’ve been seeing upwards of 8 weeks as a possibility but I’m just so damn excited! But you’re right, thankful I have one coming.

I've seen multiple reports of 3 weeks from load-in-Normal to unload-in-Southern-California. But any given train could have different timing.

Just talked to the El Segundo service center and they have no ETA either.

BTW, Rivian is still using delivery trucks from the factory. Mine left the factory a few days ago and arrived in Denver today.

I would say 2-6 wells for shipping via rail. Working in the industry a lot will depend on logistics on Rivians end and the rail company. They’ll coordinate pickuos and drop offs from other manufacturers for effectiveness in volume. This comes at the cost of getting a car shipped out in a few days but as production ramps this should be more seamless. Plus there less damage that happens on rail compared to open shipping on a truck.

3 weeks for me rail to socal. @Sgt Beavis got his 8 steps a month after me and he's possibly taking delivery the same day as me next week. That shows you the difference rail vs truck transport.

I'm waiting on a train headed to socal, seems to have left sometime during the week of August 1st...Will keep this updated as I hear things as I assume there are others waiting for that same train!

Curious as to how long it took folks to go from "preparing vehicle" (step 8) to being in transit. VIN already assigned.

Mine still says "preparing vehicle" even though my guide confirmed it started its train trip over a week ago. I'm guessing the actual "preparing" doesn't end until it's local to you and finished being checked over, washed, etc, by your local SC.

For me, VIN assigned 7/25 and has been “in transit” since to El Segundo. No updates on ETA or current location
