Just picked up my R1S 2 weeks ago. By and large loving it. There is a small issue with one of the doors being out of alignment and this not closing but I'm bringing it to server center in 3 weeks.

I have two random questions. First, I want to keep Regen braking on but is it possible for the car to "creep" when in reverse? I'm finding that having to press the accelerator to back out of the garage gives me anxiety that I'm going to hit a wall by accident as I maneuver it. On my ioniq 5 it will auto creep backwards so that I simply need to use the brake which gives me a lot better speed control. But then it doesn't do that going forward because it's full Regen. Anyway, long shot but looking to see if the Rivian can do that.

Second question, I have very low airflow out of the "feet" vents and my feet are freezing even when the heat it turned all the way up. Is that normal or should I have the service center take a look at that too? Thanks

No creep feature yet, but I know many would love to see it. I have a tiny garage and I have to be very careful whether going in or out, but with practice it got easier. Hopefully you will find the same thing.

None of the vents seem to blow very strong IMO, but it's subjective. I definitely notice that closing other vents helps push more air out of the ones still open. Times you don't have folks in the rear seats I would turn those vents off and it helps up front.

I believe the reverse should be better with the next update!

Can't help you with the feet vents as I rarely have mine on. I have heat issues in general where I barely get any. Service appt in a few weeks. Do you get good heat out of the other vents?
Thanks, I see this in the notes regarding reverse, hoping this helps: Improved throttle control when in Reverse

In terms of the heat if feels light across the board on all vents, even when on max but I do feel slightly more air out of the top than the bottom. But it just seems light al around and I wasn't sure if that was normal or not. I'm trying to think how to describe the airflow, I'm not sure it would even be enough to turn one of those pinwheel toys even on top but certainly not the bottom.

I'm going to be testing with my anemometer to get air flow as well as temperature. Hopefully get some good data to show how little heat is actually coming out.
Would be interesting to pass around and have a few other owners that are happy with their performance do the same tests and see where things are at between different vehicles.

Hmm, I might pick one of those up. I suspect though that air speed and temperature are correlated to the cabin temp, at least that is how my other vehicles seem to operate so if you're starting point is 65 and mine is 30, setting the Rivian to the same 72 degrees (for example) might yield different results. But worth getting some data.

I'm looking forward to the Reverse change. But until then, one thing I found that helps a lot is to use your left foot to touch the brake pedal while you reverse - if you touch it just enough to let the vehicle know you're braking regen will be greatly reduced, making it easier to control in reverse.

I find that if you lightly put your foot on the go pedal and wait a full two seconds, the truck will start to reverse nice and slowly. That two seconds wait is critical. I have public parking on a city street and have to parallel park into tight spots day in and day out and this works for me. If you put your foot on the pedal, and then think you’re not pushing it hard enough because the truck is not moving, your instinct is to push harder and This is when the truck starts to take off at an uncomfortable speed. Try a light push and then wait.

I've observed the same with cold feet. It's even worse when passenger has the temp below 69 on the other side, apparently running heat and AC at the same time. Another annoyance is that the center vents are not on by default. Overall, heating has been disappointing but bearable.

IMO there should be an option for creep in reverse. I back into my garage with the T and it's also tricky when trying to line up my ball with the tongue in my travel trailer.

Like someone else said with practice, I have gotten the hang of it mostly.

Amazing, that helped a ton! I was doing exactly what you were saying, it didn't move and I'd push harder. Lightly pressing and waiting 2-3 seconds was perfect. Thank you so much.

Yeah I did find that cranking it way up and max air flow I can finally feel air coming out by the feet but it still either seems blocked or maybe just poorly designed. I'm going to ask them when I bring it in next month anyway.

To answer your Title question, yes. If you have the AC on and put it in Reverse, the heat will come on. /s
