Random reboots... anyone else?

Since the last software update, my infotainment system is randomly rebooting while I am driving. See picture below. It has happen 3 times in the last week or so and just power cycle's back online after a couple of minutes. I suppose this is something I need to find the proper path to report to Rivian, but I thought I would check to see if I am a one-off at this point.

Bugs seem to be typical, and needing to reboot to clear them is also commonplace, but repeated full on random reboots are not.

You are not alone. This started with 2024.31.03 for us... then sort of went away. It has now done it 2 - 3 times with 2024.35.01. I reported the issue to a Rivian employee neighbor of mine, who forwarded it, along with VIN and date / time to the software team. So, they are aware. Hasn't happened in a week, so maybe it fixed itself.

I am also getting the same. Maps random reboots are still prevalent, and complete reboot while driving are prevalent.

I’m getting the same issue and your thread isn’t the first one. Mine started with the 27.01 update in August. Was in service this week and they checked the logs and everything over (I had a couple of time stamps of when it happened) and they think my drive cam SD card is making it glitch. Having me trying to keep it unplugged and see if it happens again.

I did have issues with drive cam saying my Sd wasn’t fast enough and many others on here were having that too. Last update fixed that and drive cam had been working fine. I doubt that is the issue, but will see…

You have a 2024.35.01 version? I did’t know there was a .01 of 35.

And yeah, my truck randomly rebooted on the way home yesterday. (And I have several ECUs offline after my update)

I had this happen for the first time this week. I was driving home from work and cursing at Apple Music and it reset itself. When it booted back up Apple Music worked so I just rolled with it??‍

I had it. They fixed it. No trouble since.

I lived with it for 6 or 7 months because I didn't want to give it up to the Service Center.
Finally, some Real driving came up & I was gonna have to leave my rural comfort zone & head up highway 17 towards Santa Cruz. It's always fun & I can keep up - but it wasn't ever going to happen if my screens weren't available. And there was a party I had to go to.

So I took it to the service center.
They gave me a brilliant blue Toyota Tacoma loaner with a gas pedal, no navigation
& said they'd call me. I barely got out of town.

Halfway home I stopped for a burger, parked in the lot & walked inside for exercise.
When I got back to the Toyota, the engine was running & the doors were unlocked.
I don't think I'll ever get used to ICE cars.

I had maybe 1 reboot like this in my first year of ownership. Been having it almost every day since 2 updates back.

I do have an SD card plugged in fro drive cam recording, but that’s been there for a while without issues.

I had it happen only once after the latest update. It happened multiple times after the previous update though.

Scared me yesterday when driving on interstate before sunrise. Called service before finding this thread. Seems to be common, known problem. Hope they fix it soon. Annoying to get red warning message that disappeared almost immediately and not being able to review it after reboot.

That is good info. I was getting the "... SD wasn't fast enough issue" and thus went and bought a faster one per the recommendations here. It eliminated the error and seems to be working, but I hadn't thought about it being the culprit still. It if continues I will unplug it and see if it makes a difference. Thank you.
