Hi Folks,

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I’m wondering about accuracy of range with the pretty wide array of tire options for Gen2. I have a dual standard R1T with the base 20” tires. The shop indicates the range is 258 and then 270 with the range tires. But with the large configuration I don’t see a difference displayed, and then with Max it’s a 40 mile difference in range. Is that accurate? Makes me wonder if I had gotten the 22” on my standard if range would actually be above 270. Anyway, just curious if it’s been tested out since there are so many different tire configurations available compared to say Tesla, my only other EV experience.

So many variables. Range numbers put out by companies are pretty worthless, but nonetheless are ok as guides. Tons of great threads on different tires here and what they do to range.

I think Rivian hasn't gotten their Gen 2 numbers straight yet and I haven't seen a lot of independent range testing of Gen 2 either. But lots of info out there on Gen 1.

Hmm.. when I go to the configurator, for the R1T Dual Standard I see the differences you noted, but for Large and Max the All-Terrain tires are grayed out - unselectable - and All-Seasons aren’t even on the list, as they are for the Standard, so that could be skewing the reporting a bit. There also could be just a coding issue with the site’s reporting various ranges.

I agree with @usulio though, that they may still be settling on ranges for Gen 2s still. I have a Gen 2 R1S Dual Large with 22 Sports, and after 1800 miles and a few charge sessions to >90%, Electrafi.com calculates I’d get 335 miles from 100% to 0%, which is technically 5 miles more than Rivian’s site suggests. Anecdotal, but there is room for optimism.
