This is where the LED is on my Gen 2
Good to know ! The OP is a Gen 2 - I wonder if the 2026 Gen 2's are different than the 2025's in this way too?

Maybe get something like THIS and attach it to the top of the cavity there?

????? I'm confused by this entire thread. The button is also lit, but you can't tell in the daylight.

Am I the only one who have trouble inserting the charger in the charging socket when it is dark? A simple led light in the socket would make it so much easier!!
You hava a flashlight in the driver's door don't you?

For me, the problem is not the lack of light in the charging socket. I cannot see the charging socket because he front light bar is so bright. I just stab until it connects.

This is one of the reasons why NACS is superior - the rounded edges of the socket guide the connector in to it.

Seems like it would make more sense to have the charging cable handle have the light to light the way to the hole lol.

I’ve also had problems seeing in the dark to plug in, but I recently realized that there is an LED in the top of the port shining on the receptacle (gen 2 R1T). The problem is that it only stays on for 30 seconds after opening the charge port, so if I open the port from the center display and then take half a minute to get out and get the cable, it has gone off. Solution: just wait and open the port when I’m ready to plug in.

The other problem is the CCS plug design. It has to be lined up just right to go in. My other car has NACS, and it is easy to plug in in the dark. The plug design is much better and slides in easily even with some misalignment.

I don't understand why the timeout on the charge port LED is so short. It can't be a power-saving thing given that it should use a minuscule amount of power. In my mind, once the charge port is opened the light which shines down on the port should stay on until at least one of three things happens:
1. The charger is plugged in
2. The charge port cover is closed
3. The vehicle goes to sleep

I think that would make it a lot more useful for a lot of people. Maybe Rivian can change to something like this in a future update.

I wonder: How many people out there with a Gen2 have never seen the light in the top of the port because of the short timeout?

My garage and driveway are lighted and in all of my travels, well over 100 different DCFC chargers, I’ve never been in a location too dark to plug in.

Curious where you are plugging in where it is too dark to see to plug in.
The main problem is the glare from the light bar makes it hard to see the socket.

Good to know! Thanks for the info.

I actually wish the outlet in the back seat area had a light.
