I love the look of the Chilewich mats but the shop build I ended up getting came with the standard mats. I asked if they could just add the mats from the factory and they said it could be a service center appointment. After many back and forths, it seems like the mats can be had as a 200$ option, but buying them after the fact costs $450.

I’ve seen the EV sport line ones that are around 400$ but I guess I can’t understand why I can’t just add something as simple as a 200$ mat option onto my car from factory, or why they’re not just available in the shop like the all weathers.

Has anyone had any luck getting the Chilewich mats from factory? Or does anyone have Gen 2 OC Chilewich mats they’d like to part with? ?

If I’m buying a set, I’d get the EV sport line ones. OEM allows dirt and water to pass through pretty easily.

Gen 1 drivers mat is not compatible with Gen 2 and can cause accelerator pedal interference.

This "feature" of the OEM Chilewich mats actually saved me when I had the HVAC issue that soaked my carpeting and started to get moldy because I noticed the bottom of my foot was wet when I stepped out of the car. I shouldn't have left a footprint on the garage floor...

This is an excellent point! Didn't think of this added benefit of the Chilewich mats!

Yeah - I wished I didn't discover it when I had the problem. Our Chilewich mats smell moldy (as did the carpeting underneath). I've asked for them to be replaced as part of our HVAC service - we'll see how that goes.

Agree! I have been lucky and not had that HVAC leak. I wish the design had a better failure mode.

@Spamthechan I’m picking up a Gen 2 R1S next week equipped with Chilewich mats. I’d be down for a straight up trade for all weather mats from the shop if you want to work something out!
