They just don't tell you that it does!

Learned something new today, watching a review.

While other companies advertise how to use their launch mode, it appears that despite Rivian not bringing attention to it, it does have a similar launch mode to a Tesla Model 3/Y or other cars.

It doesn't adjust the suspension. But, if you press all the way down on the brake pedal and hold, then press and hold the throttle. When you're ready, simply release the brake pedal.

Nothing too exciting and pretty basic. Also not something I personally have a need for, but good to know that it's there, just in case.

I thought this was common knowledge on how to "launch" any EV? ?

If you watch enough YouTube, you should already know this. But thank you for posting.
Guess I don't watch enough. I have however, read that people have asked for Rivian to release a Launch Mode. So, I don't think I'm the only one. My Tesla's and other cars I've driven have had instructions on how to activate it. Rivian has no such instruction.

Even the Bolt EV. Though that one is put the car in neutral, pedal down to the floor, shift back to drive.

How is it different than just flooring the pedal? I floored it once and it acceleration was insane already. Oh, and I realized I was on Conserve mode, but scared to try it again.

Nah I think it’s 835hp in sport mode and 700hp in all purpose. Launching might give it a little more torque but my tires spin from a stop just going 100% throttle in sport

When I took delivery, my “concierge” included telling me about this with all the other features. She was excellent.

Same. Though I did already know from various online sources.

There does seem to be a little bit of a difference vs. just flooring it, and I think it continues for some period of time. I also find that disabling stability control provides more aggressive/responsive acceleration in general. Could be placebo. But also, it will spin the front tires when I'm at high state of charge and stomp the pedal under 40mph.

You'll also want it in Sport mode for the full effect. I've actually only had the opportunity to do this type of launch once and holy shit I was blown away. My head snapped back into the headrest at a force I was NOT ready for.

Also, be sure that when you put it in sport that the suspension stiffens correctly. I had a friend who put his in sport mode, then did a launch and he heard the rear wheels rubbing against the wheel wells, because for some reason sport mode did not activate stiff suspension.

Stiff is the default unless you change it but, yes, on lowest ride height soft suspension is not a great idea...

I'm honestly not sure how the situation came about, he was just relaying an amusing anecdote about what happens if you have the wrong combination of height and stiffness.
