I have my current Tesla insured through Tesla as their price was much lower than I could find for it.

Just got the quote on the Rivian and WOW! It's not cheap. Perfect driving record. Over 30 years experience and they came back at $347 per month. Paying $113 for a Model S Tesla. Now waiting for a quote from my own insurance company.

Shocked it was that high.

Anyone else receiving better quote? I'm in Los Angeles, so I know it's higher than some for that reason alone, but still shouldn't be anywhere near that high. I had a quote for the F-150 Lightning at my own insurance company and it was less than $100 per month.

EDIT 05/31/2022 TO ADD UPDATED INFO:
Got my quote from my own insurance company today, Mercury. As I noted, they were horribly high priced with the Tesla at around $2,200 per 6 months, so wasn't expecting the quote to be very good for the Rivian. To my surprise, it came back at $1,071 per 6 months. I have multiple cars and my homeowner's with them as well. But $178 per month, almost half what Nationwide / Rivian quoted. Still higher than I'd like it to be, but considering the type of vehicle it is, I guess it's probably not too bad.

Mine was the same or slightly better than what I had with All-State.

Rivian/Nationwide was slightly better than USAA.

My full coverage through Rivian was $100 more annually than limited coverage on a 2004 f-150, through Westfield.

They would not even give me a quote for Orange County, CA. They just told me they could not compete with the prices I am currently paying. To be fair I was asking to bundle houses, cars, and an umbrella policy.

I added the Rivian and my rates went down compared to travelers (4 drivers 4 cars to 4 drivers 5 cars)

My quote was about that. Only quoted for the R1T, no home and they admitted they wouldn't be competitive on my motorcycles. It's significantly more than I pay for my Defender, so debating what to do. There are some nice perks to going through Rivian/Nationwide.

I'm in Western Massachusetts and I got a quote from Geico for a Rivian Adventure package and a 2022 Mazda CX5 with full coverage for $850. The Mazda will only log a 1,000 miles a year. I know many of you won't believe me but if you have access to Geico you should get a quote. I was using Arbella a few years ago and when I switched to Geico my bill was cut in half. It appears if you have a clean driving record, Geico wants you. So someone asked me, yeah but how are they if you have an accident. One of my kids hit a pole and managed to get the car home. A geico rep came to the house, did a thorough inspection and cut him a check on the spot for a totaled vehicle for almost as much as he paid for the vehicle two years earlier. My daughter had a brand new Camry that someone backed into. Geico sent her to Rick's Autubody, probably the best body shop in the area. She said it was a very seamless process.

RiIvan (Nationwide) quoted me $190 per month vs $350 from Allstate. And I live in the Republic of Florida, which is one of the worst driving states.

I did that, the r1t and a 2001 rogue, an umbrella policy, and a homeowners policy, $2800/year for all, a bit cheaper than similar coverage from Geico. So many coverage options tricky to compare one against the other. ……

Personally, I blame Miami for the entire state. How anyone manages to drive in that area and not have an accident on a daily basis is beyond me ?

I 2nd geico’s service is quite good. My daughter was rear ended by a enterprise rental at a set of rr tracks, guy drinking coffee. Enterprise gave her a serious runaround for a month+. Wouldn’t fix the SUV, just kept offering less cash than estimates to fix (enterprise’s estimate). SUV was drive able, but you couldn’t open hatch or access the spare. Geico checked in on her at that time. Apologized and They took over the claim, said never mind, get your car fixed. We’ll sort out enterprise.

That’s wild. I haven’t gotten a quote from Rivian insurance, but I insured it through Allstate for $84/mo. You sure that wasn’t $347/6 mo?
