Rivian lease terms for R1S / R1T have been updated and now reflect better value for the consumer.

Competition is a good thing and this should help price conscious customer lean over to Rivian versus Porsche.

You will need to verify the money factor and residuals but seems like right off the bat the lease payment is $200 - $300 lower than launch.

The $7,500 EV credit is included with leasing. (Offer includes upfront capitalized cost reduction of $7,500 provided by the lessor.)

Looks like they were able to move a lot of DMs off LA metro area after this, but I feel like QMs are much better lease deal when you compare the payments for similar MSRP

I think Porsche is definitely a luxyury vehicle and I don't feel the same with Rivian. My Rivian looks nice but nowhere near the quality that Porsche is doing.

This is the best I can come up with using Rivian numbers and Leasehackr calculator. You will need to get real final values from Rivian based on their internal models and your credit.


I would personally rather own, maintain/charge and drive the Rivian R1S over fuel/operate the Taycan, Macan or Cayenne.

I hope this is a just a sample of what's to come when R2 launches.

The fine print says some interesting things on the lease details. For a QM with the only options being Green paint and standard road wheels it lists a price of $93,750...

but then says "To obtain a payment of $892/month, vehicle pricing before dealer options must total $100,800 comprised of the following vehicle selections: Quad Motor AWD ($92,000) + premium paint ($2,500) + premium interior ($2,000) + premium wheel ($2,500) + destination fee ($1,800). This would require an amount due at signing of $8,787."

Which puts them marking the vehicle up by 7,500 or so then adding the cost reduction back onto it.

I was really looking like this deal might have made me pull the trigger on a lease over my preorder but something is fishy. Anyone make better sense of it?

As an early QM reservation holder that has the lower price (and was given a delivery date in March 2024) it's going to interesting to see how they calculate the residual... will it be off the current MSRP (~$93K) or my Early Reservation Holder price (~$75K). Anyone taking bets?

The early reservation holder price was for purchase and not a lease.

I don't believe you will be eligible to lease with early reservation pricing.

Search and check with your guide if you can lease with your old pricing.



Edit: 5 pages of back and forth just to get to the conclusion that pre price hike is not eligible for leasing.

You don't have to get the upgrades if you don't want it. Look at the 2 screenshots below and the first one has your price of $891 for a $99,000 config plus $1,800 destination fee for total of $100,800.

You can go with a base model QM and get that for $799 for $92,000 config plus $1,800 destination fee for a total of $93,800.

I’m new to the concept of leasing. I suppose I’m old fashioned, but I always thought of it as a scam, in the sense that you’re paying but in the end you get nothing. My heart would rather own. But I’m reading so many comments where people say these leasing deals are a better idea than buying. So I’m trying to understand the concept well enough to be able to make the best decision.

Quad motor ends up being $10,000 - $15,000 more than dual motor depending on battery picked.

that would mean lease or buy payments would be higher for QM versus DM all thing equal.

To move QM inventory, Rivian has improved the final numbers by tweaking the residual and money factor to get quad motor lease payments closer the dual motor lease payments.

stop worrying about other people. Focus on your own situation. How does State tax impact your situation. In Texas, you pay tax on the full amount when you lease and then again on the residual if you buy. Other States you only pay tax on the lease payments.

Next figure out if you want power from quad motor or save Benjamin’s with dual motor. Ask yourself if you will want to own it for 5 years or only 3 years.

jeebus this is an awesome deal for pre-order holders who are ok with the dual motor configuration. The tax credit on top is just icing on the cake.
