Obviously the immediate punch is going to feel better, but is it enough to get out of Gen 1 LE?
I have yet to quantify it, but my Tri hits harder even when already at highway speeds and I stomp on the throttle. It doesn't fall on it's face somewhere in the 90's like my Gen1 R1T does, so it doesn't quite give me that "hey you should slow down now" feeling either.

I have yet to go much over 100 mph in the Tri (I think I might've hit the 112 mph limiter once?), haven't had a great opportunity to do that with minimal to no traffic, so but there's realistically not a good reason to.

I'm bummed they are bringing back the Launch Green color for the Gen2 quad. It was one of the last few unique things left about my Launch Edition R1T.

All new cars have to be EPA-certified before they can be put on the market right? I'd keep an eye on that site more than asking. And they might even make it a 2026 model year, which along with speed of EPA process (slow), would explain delay. Rivian may in fact be ready to go, but can't proceed.

I hear you on the power band of the Gen 1. I was having some fun with a 2025 Mustang GT and from a running highway speed of 100kph and up we were pretty much dead even. Granted I'm on 34" AT's still, it was one of the few times I wanted the Gen 2.

Does EPA have some sort of approval process for this where they are evaluating or testing vehicles or are they basically just publishing what is given to them by the manufacturer?

There is an approval process. OEMs submit documents. EPA staff review at their pace (slow) and decide if all boxes are ticked and worthy of rubber stamping. Then, the process of notifying OEM and publishing on EPA site at their pace (slow). If the dept. was affected by staffing cuts... well, you can imagine how slow.

Do they need EPA certification to take orders or just prior to delivery?

They can take reservations. Reservations are not orders. Orders are sales. Sales without certification are prohibited.
There's been at least one period where Rivian was selling vehicles that didn't have EPA certification published yet. I never went back and looked at what the date was on the cert once it was actually published.

My understanding is OEM has green light once they have documentation from EPA that it's certified—but may choose to delay for sake of marketing campaign timing or inventory. I mentioned publication earlier, but that was in context of where the average consumer could look for clues on when sales might begin; instead of asking people who aren't involved in the process.
