Rivian R1S Compact Spare Tire Kit questions

If I order the Rivian R1S Compact Spare Tire Kit do I need to have Rivian Service install the mount point for the Rivian R1S Retention Stud in the rear tire storage area? Do I need a new rear tire liner with the proper hole? What is anything else am I missing to have a inflatable / stowable spare? tia

For me, Rivian installed everything needed to mount and stow the tire correctly in the rear subfloor. Mobile service completed it in less than 30 min.

They didn’t explicitly say when I got mine but the impression I had was that installation is also required. They won’t just give you a kit and wish you luck.

I actually needed to use mine last week. Definitely take a look through the instructions when you get it. Trying to find the target PSI to inflate (61) and if you should put the spare on before inflation or after (after) was a little stressful at 1 am in a strange city on a busy bridge.

They install everything including a new compartment tub. Remind tech to check the spare kit is complete with all included tool. Some can fall out in transit and go unnoticed.

The compact spare is secured with a bolt. If you have the mount point in your storage area (and provided the kit comes with the bolt), installing it should be quite simple. That said... My R1S came with the compact spare installed from the factory (standard with the off-road package) and I have removed it. It is heavy, seems like a joke, will likely never be needed, and takes up otherwise very useful storage space. Hope this helps.
