Rivian R2 and Colorado VXC Program

I placed my R2 deposit in June and just relocated to Colorado. The state has a rebate program where new EVs with an MSRP of $80,000 or less receive a $9,000 rebate. The R1S and R1T obviously aren't eligible, but with the lower price of the R2, I envision this would entice ICE vehicle owners to switch to an EV. In general, I've noticed more Rivians on the road than in my home state (rural New England).

Does anyone know if this is in the works? I've tried contacting Rivian to no avail.

Looks like you need a vehicle that is at least 12 years old and your income is below the median income. So this will not get used that much - otherwise CO would be bankrupted as it is $9000.

I qualify on both ends. We'll see. I might just wait for the Scout or get a Mach-E if I don't hear anything by the end of the year (or if my reservation is still in limbo).

I had thought with the income limits being fairly low then more expensive EVs ($50k+) become harder to buy.

You got me excited for a moment but I'm grateful that I don't qualify based on income or vehicle. But I hope you are able to use it!

There’s also a state tax credit of up to $3,250 for eligible new EVs and plug-in hybrids. Would that be $12,250 off on a new EV?! If so I’m moving to Colorado!!! Ohio, what the hell are we doing here? Get your $#!+ together.

Yeah, the Colorado EV tax credit gold rush is no more my friend. In 2020, between Fed and State I was able to recoup about 12 grand off a Polestar 2, today you might get $750 on an R2, nada on R1. Maybe if you're a barista trying to trade in your 2014 Wrangler for a used Leaf...

It depends on how many people live in the house...



I qualify all the way around. Just not sure its enough to justify selling off my R1 for a R2.

Per the VXC program details, you must purchase, and trade in your 12+ year old/HEM (high emission vehicle)/wont pass emissions, vehicle thru an participating VXC Dealer.

I do not see Rivian on this list.

So the rebate is a sales tax holiday for EVs? Car Sales tax (state/local) is between 5-10%



Looks like you have to recycle your old car.
