They should partner with BYD and sell their product under Rivian's name in the states. They need to tackle the affordable EV problem and BYD has that figured out. Plus they look like they have a good product.
Isn't that because they use much less expensive chinese labor? Also, they may not include all the safety features that cars sold in North America require.

As someone who has both a lucid and rivian in our family.. I'm quite surprised at the amount of folks in here balking at Rivian "gaining nothing" in this mythical proposal of merging. The Lucid is an incredible machine with the upper hand in many areas (range, power, charging speed, cabin finishings etc).

I don't support this merger but... has anyone here driven a Lucid or have any educated opinion or you're just reading articles and regurgitating what you read in someone's post on reddit?
Yep. If the opportunity presented itself to buy or inexpensively license their small incredibly efficient electric motor, I would support that. Is Lucid's battery and charging tech really that much better?

The only attractive part of that merger is the House of Saud's near infinite $$$. Only makes sense if Rivian is broke. Not there yet...

I’ve said it from day one if anyone should buy anything it’s Tesla buying Rivian. The Cybertruck is a joke and if Tesla had bought Rivian they would be untouchable right now.

And if Tesla bought Rivian, RJ would be fired immediately and the backing of Amazon would certainly be jeopardized, if not terminated. But these things do happen in the business world.

Rivian will be fine. They will need to raise cash next year, rates are high, but it'll get done. Their debt levels are miniscule when you compare them to some legacy makers like Toyota/Ford that have huge amounts of debt financing - but of course make a lot more vehicles. If they can get to and delivery the R2, that will turn them profitable finally.... and then its no stopping them if they keep the brand refreshed, higher quality, and unique.
