Here's a picture of Rivian suspension from a Motor Trend article in 2021 and a picture of CVSA2 Kinetic from the Monroe Web Site. Looks to me like the same basic design principle and hardware?

I hope they are not changing it. Having only 15 - 20k trucks will be bad for parts availability and software updates. It won't matter if the V2 is cheaper or expensive than V1.

They never showed the whole suspension in the Long Way Up series, but the reservoir canister they did when the people driving the R1T broke one off after getting out of the truck without putting the parking brake on and it rolled way down a hill. It's the same canister.

I had no idea when I watched that show that the truck was basically a 7000lb tank rolling away. Holy crap!

The general consensus is that this report is nothing new at all, but a reannouncement of the same tech, with possibly small refinements, but the media has taken it and run with it.

We must all ask ourselves "If this is such a big new announcement and change, why hasn't Rivian made it public?" Oh wait... ?

I reached out to the company that makes Rivian's suspension components for clarification and got this:

Sorry that the release wasn’t clearer on this.​

We are not indicating a change to the product. The system is the same as we originally released with Rivian at the R1T/R1S start of production.​
