Average rate of battery progress is mid high single digit percentage per year. So, 5-10 times is not happening for a very long time.
perfect space for solid state lithium batteries.

Cool idea, I'm glad they are at least toying with different ideas of what that space could be used for. I wonder how much something like that would weigh though. 12V 100Ah car batteries are about 30lbs without an inverter.

It's interesting.. but why? What situation would you need this that you couldn't use an extension cord for?

For something like this I cant imagine it woudn't be an easy to sell/produce item they could charge like $250.
They're selling a $25 rechargeable flashlight for $175, doubt they'd price this under $500.

I'd guess the ability to power something at camp while simultaneously driving somewhere else would be the large benefit. Unless people like hiking with a heavy battery. Or taking it inside somewhere for battery backup. But my guess is if this ever makes it to market you'll see an add with a fridge or stove plugged in and half the people hopping into the truck to go explore while the others cook etc.

There are many places that tethering from any vehicle is not practical. Not everything is focused towards camp site where one has a vehicle next to the tent, or on the top of the vehicle.

An example is at the beach. The parking lot versus where the family/group would be gathering. Another is at a picnic site at a park, where again, a parking is not close enough for powering by extension cord.

I believe this little power bank will be more useful than the camp speaker. Clearly, you can have an alternative portable power bank probably for less cost but its another option....

Well the camp speaker is a waste for me. I got a perfectly good JLB one in the house. I can take it with me anywhere and it is not a pain connecting to Bluetooth like Rivian's. I really like the idea of additional storage, more USBs and a 12v connection, but this doesn't look like it is going to happen.

Ignore the "Yeah, but's"!! Continue with the innovative ideas!

After I purchase this, I hope the Camp Speaker Gun Safe and Camp Speaker Pop-Out Toaster is ready for production. Maybe a Camp Speaker Auxiliary Passenger Foot Warmer for my wifee-poo's cold toes after a snow hike. Or a Camp Speaker Disco Ball.

BTW - what voltage/amperage does the Camp Speaker get for a charge in the cubby?
