Running boards impact on range?

And the side mirrors have a greater impact on aero than steps/sliders. Furthermore, people concerned about aero impact are worrying about the wrong thing. Of all things, potential impact to warranty, insurance and extent of damage should be of greater concern. There are some consumer protection laws in place. But, that doesn't mean manufacturers and insurance companies won't try everything they can to limit their liability. And that could mean you'll find yourself in a situation where you have to take legal action of your own.

I'm not saying you shouldn't buy and install aftermarket parts, that's entirely your choice. But, if you're going to do it, know what you could be getting yourself into. Expectedly, to protect their business interests, manufacturers and insurance companies are not friendly to modifications.

By installing aftermarket steps/sliders, you've knowingly introduced an unknown factor. How is the step/slider going to react in a collision? is it going to buckle and absort certain amount of force? or is it built like a tank and transfer force to the vehicle to the point of creating more damage than there would have? and will it deform to the point that you couldn't open your doors? Have you seen any of these aftermarket companies perform tests and publish findings? No and you won't, becasue it's cost prohibitive.

The warning is duly noted but in reality any damage from an accident is not going to be covered under warrenty regardless and would have to be covered as part of the insurance claim.

I haven’t had my rock sliders/running boards on for very long. But have done many charge cycles since they were installed and notice nothing significant or nothing difference in range since installing them.
I went with a set from Weistec - they are quite Amazing quality and nice to be able to jack up the vehicle directly from them. At least the rock sliders allow this due to their strong design. And offer extra protection for the battery. I would think it would be hard for Rivian to say a battery would not be warrantied because of a product like this. Has more protection now than some flimsy metal plates and plastic trim panels…

speaking of plastic trim and such… I have a full set of plastic trim panels and plates that are free to anyone local who needs them. I have no intention to remove these rock sliders so won’t need the trim pieces removed. the R1T has 1500 miles on it so they look like new condition.

Had the EVsportsline for 6 months now and still the same efficiency . It is around 2.3 mi/kwh with my 21" R1s before and after installed.
