Anyone have experience with adding running boards? Looking at Hansshow running boards. Looking at retractable but concerned about possible warranty issues? Also looks like you have remove three plastic under belly panels to in stall. Exposes part of user belly

We put on the EVSportline without too much hassle. Had to buy an impact wrench at Harbor Freight to break the bolts loose. I strongly discourage trying to get them out with a breaker bar. If you strip one you are hosed. If I recall correctly the boards came with a high quality bit for the bolts.

I’ve got EV Base, which are basically Hansshow. I’m perfectly happy with these, since they’re used as steps and not sliders. These are not retractable, however. I self-installed and modified my panels to fit around the brackets. EV-base sells their own panels that fit around the brackets as well. As far as removal of TP55, def breaker bar over impact for sure. You are far more likely to strip and damage your bolt with impact than with the breaker bar.

I installed The EV Sportline running boards on my R1S. I opted for the method of drilling a 4” hole in the plastic panels. All done by hand. Used a long torque wrench as a breaker bar. All went very smoothly. I agree that a manual removal of the bolts is much safer. Just make sure the supplied bit is well seated. My wife loves the running boards and I gotta admit they make getting in and out much easier.

I installed the EVSportline running boards on my R1T by myself. It's mainly about having the right tools, taking it slowly, and having a bucket or stepstool or something to hold up one end while you attach the carriage bolts to the other. Totally doable.

No idea about the Hansshow.

I have Weistec rock sliders. I like them. Easy install, super sturdy. They completely cover the area exposed by the plastic panel removal. They keep mud and dirt from the tires off the paint, and help protect from parking lot door rash.

This is a bad idea. Most torque wrenches (other than beam deflection type) are calibrated in only one direction. Using them under load in the opposite direction can result in damage and calibration loss.

Good to know - thanks
It is a digital sensing wrench if that makes any difference.

You have to check the documentation that comes with the wrench.

You are correct, you'll have to remove some panels. It is not sealed and is already exposed so you'll be ok. I left mine off as it was easier than trying to manipulate them to put back on. Some manufacturers have replacement panels. Rock sliders should not reduce your ground clearance, depending on the ones you select, as opposed to most running boards - so that is something to keep in mind.

My nearest SC does not care if you have sliders or boards installed - contact your SC or Rivian support to have them reach out to you for info if they care or not.

As others have pointed out, use the search function. There are LOTS of threads on this. Find what you like and check what people say about it.
