I recently moved from the PNW where salt is not used routinely on roads to Michigan where it is. Since I bought my R1T in OR it is not rust proofed. Any suggestions on need for this given I have adventure pack with underbody skid plate? Do the Rivian service centers offer / recommend it for midwest states that use salt on winter roads? Thanks

Don't do it!

I launch our boat in salt water all summer long using m R1T, sometimes I have to go pretty deep in to the water depending on the tide. In an email I specifically asked Rivian about dunking it in salt water... their answer was "it was designed to withstand that kind of use".

I am thrilled to report that after a full summer of boating and a full winter of NY salted roads, there is still not one speck of rust on my R1T. Of course I rinse it with the garden hose as soon as we return from the ramp, but if it can stand up to that kind of treatment, there is no need for rustproofing IMO.

If you're happy with that then fine, but it's pretty easy to rinse with Salt Away (HFT sprayer is better and more robust than the Salt Away sprayer).

Don’t do it, all of those ziebart undercoat is for 1990-early 2000 cars. New cars have rust prevention coats, that if you put something over the top it would trap moisture and cause more harm. That’s why no one do them. If anyone tries to sell you that on a new car, is a scam.

The Rivianā€˜s are made with aluminum body structure panels - no corrosion or rust will form.
