Any general advice on removing a couple sizable blobs of sap that have been on my hood for a couple weeks now. Just don't want to put the wrong product on it & regret coating damage

This happened to me a few weeks ago and I took my car to the dealer in a panic as that sap eats the clear. He suggested this for the future, but cautioned against getting it on any of the plastic as it will discolor.

If it’s been a couple weeks you’re going to want to get it taken care of asap as mine was only on a few days and already required a rebuff as it etched into the clear.

You want some kind of oil. I use cooking oil when I get pine pitch on my hands from carrying in the Christmas tree, then wash off with dish soap. You can use WD-40 on the paint. Some people even use mayonnaise since it is also oil-based. Best to do any kind of treatment out of direct sunlight since it will need a bit of time to loosen up the sap.

Butter. Not kidding. It does a great job of taking sap off your hands too. Not so well with clothing, because now you have a oil stain instead of sap...

Never heard that but sounds plausible and safe to try vs harsh chemicals. Thanks!

Go to your local auto parts store and browse detailing aisle. Pick a tree sap removal product from any of the common brands; Turtle Wax, Eagle One, Meguiar’s, etc. and follow instructions. Hand sanitizer gel works too, but don’t let it sit too long. Wipe off as soon as the sap is liquified.

Isopropyl rubbing alcohol 91% is the best for tree sap (I live in a pine forest). It takes the sap off right away. But as soon as you wipe it off, you should wash the truck (and then I use a ceramic spray sealant on the paint to further protect it; I really like the Turtle Wax Graphene Enhanced product line)

Rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer are the quickest least messiest methods but may strip wax based coatings.

Alcohol for sure strips wax. If you use an alcohol based product, you will need to reseal with wax.

Rivian R1T R1S Sap Removal - R1T Hood 1000003902

I've used this on every phase of sap, from fresh drip to caked on hard stuff. The harder it is, the longer you let it sit, and sometimes multiple passes on really bad spots. I've used it on the glass, paint, and tonneau with no issues.

I got 32oz because I park under some really drippy trees at the cabin. Cheaper than a carport.

I use alcohol based gel hand sanitizer.
Used this several times on my wife's car. Works well, better than Turtle wax bug and tar remover.
