Noticed this the other day. Not sure if this was a rock I struck while driving or door opening into it. Luckily no paint damage underneath. Rivian is still like "new".

$75 to replace panel and logo. I use Turtle Wax Graphene spray coating. Easy to apply costs about $12.

+1 for PPF. Saved me countless times. Congrats on making the very smart move of putting PPF on your RIVIAN.

This should be a PSA for everyone on here. PPF will save your bacon time and time again!

Ive had things go thru PPF, Clear, Paint and down to Carbon Level so its not all that full proof, just depends on the angle really.

Your paint saved you there. Your vinyl is much softer than your clearcoat. This would have been a scratch that would have been hard to see but easy to buff.

Well - yes, it isn't kevlar. It depends on a lot of things, including the thickness of the PPF. In 15+ years of using PPF I've had two instances where the PPF was torn and the underlying paint was damaged - but the damage would have been much worse without the PPF.

It's a sacrificial layer and I agree that it isn't foolproof but then again, nothing is.

Yeah, those thousands of dollars for PPF really saved you from maybe having to do a 30 second pass of paint correction.
You think penetrating an 8 mill (depending on which PPF he used) PPF would have only resulted in a 30 second pass of paint correction WITHOUT protection?

I've got some R1T reservations to sell you cheap if you're interested....

OUCH! One of those cracked my windshield around that same speed. I really hate jagged little rocks...

PPF isn't vinyl it's multi-layered thermoplastic urethane. Vinyl is for having a good time. PPF is for protecting things like your paint and like the blades of helicopters in Vietnam for which it was originally developed...

Look at the pictures in the top post - the OP is calling it PPF, but they actually have vinyl.

Respectively Sir, it is PPF. I should know what I have on my car.
