Regarding the hard-to-close doors, mine has the same "issue". I believe this could be easily corrected through a software fix, so that the windows open slightly when the door is opened and then close once the door is closed (this is the way it works in my Tesla Model 3 and BMW i3). This reduces air resistance considerably and allows you to close the door without much effort.Hi,
I just wanted to post some positive news. I’m on original R1S owner launch edition oct 2022. I just picked up a second one last week for my wife. Without going into minutiae, I will see I was blown away by the changes.
1. The ride is so much smoother, she has the 21 inch road wheels I have the 22 inch so maybe its the tires that make the difference I don’t know. However it truly feels smoother.
2. Wind noise is much improved
3. My doors are very hard to close, I’ve had service tickets but no real changes. Her doors close so much easier and a nice soft sound on closing
4. Alignments etc. were perfect noticed zero issues
I think it’s positive Rivian has clearly heard us and the changes are evident in just 9 months or so. The car drives so much better I offered to change her to my launch edition
I will say though as regular non-techies start getting the car, some things have to change asap. I know they will change but for my wife its the #1 and #2 thing she noticed, she can’t read her texts and cannot charge her phone. These changes would cost peanuts for Rivian, hopefully they speed it up before it ruins others experiences.
