Hi,

I just wanted to post some positive news. I’m on original R1S owner launch edition oct 2022. I just picked up a second one last week for my wife. Without going into minutiae, I will see I was blown away by the changes.
1. The ride is so much smoother, she has the 21 inch road wheels I have the 22 inch so maybe its the tires that make the difference I don’t know. However it truly feels smoother.
2. Wind noise is much improved
3. My doors are very hard to close, I’ve had service tickets but no real changes. Her doors close so much easier and a nice soft sound on closing
4. Alignments etc. were perfect noticed zero issues

I think it’s positive Rivian has clearly heard us and the changes are evident in just 9 months or so. The car drives so much better I offered to change her to my launch edition :)

I will say though as regular non-techies start getting the car, some things have to change asap. I know they will change but for my wife its the #1 and #2 thing she noticed, she can’t read her texts and cannot charge her phone. These changes would cost peanuts for Rivian, hopefully they speed it up before it ruins others experiences.

Buy her a cable and plug it into the center console. Or get fancy and buy an aftermarket charge pad that actually works.

That doesn't help the lack of being able to read or listen to text messages.... If my '17 Escalade can do it, why can't a 2023 Rivian. It's just pig headed stubbornness.

Glad to hear the R1S are getting better. I have a R1T from December and I do not have any problems with the charging pad. I use it all the time. The only issue is if you accelerate extremely quickly or stop fast the phone will slide. With normal driving I have had zero issues with the phone losing contact. I do have a case so maybe that helps not sure.

It’s annoying for sure. If you have the Siri/Google feature enabled on your phone you can get the texts read to you and reply that way. Just “Hey Siri read my text” or “Hey Siri text Joe” works fine. It all runs through the Bluetooth and truck speakers.

As we wait for our R1S (supposedly by EOY), this does make me happy to see. Our R1T was good, but not great. So many near misses.

As much as I loved the *look* of the 20AT’s, I know now that the 21’s are a better choice for us ( we have the Bronco Raptor when we want to go off-road) for efficiency and maybe a softer sidewall. We’ll see.

I do love that Rivian is really listening and making so many adjustments, and not just in cost cutting ways (I’m looking at you 12V u set the dash…). This is the only reason I’m still holding on…

And the one that previously lived in the Frunk. Losing that one would have killed me.

So, your second R1S is an Adventure Package?

This isn't much help in the short term, but I believe the head of Software Engineering publicly stated text support was coming "by the end of the year" (2023). Anyone else remember that? I agree, it cannot come fast enough.

How would you rate the quality of the interior, are the seats more comfortable? When I drove one last year, it felt like a truck vs. SUV feeling.

The seats feel the same, maybe softer and more comfortable but that could be just from them being brand new and me being excited about the new car. I like the seats personally, wish it was real leather though :(

I agree, riding on the freeway phone charges great, riding around town not so much. That being said, I really only charge when I’m on a trip, never need to charge during the day otherwise.

I would be surprised if it is not on the big update they are planning for the summer/fall.
