During my recent service in November they changed the 12V battery and listed 2 more service campaign issues.

These are the items added to my recent service appt.:
  1. 12V battery or batteries—replace
  2. Front knuckle to hub bolts—tighten and torque to spec
  3. Mobile charger seals—replace

Called me last night about the knuckle bolts. I explained I wasn't taking a 2 hour boat ride and then drive an hour to the Boston facility for this and would like mobile service to do the work as they visit our area every 6 weeks or so. The guy asked if I had a solid flat surface with 6 feet of clearance on all sides, and when I said I did he said he would see if they could do that. and get back to me.

They will probably do mobile. They called me to do the same plus a new 12V. Didn't even mention arranging for an SC visit. Just said mobile will get you in this Wednesday if you want.

Anyone had luck getting mobile service scheduled for this? The AI chat only wants to schedule at the Chelsea SC.

For those involved in this campaign, I used the app to chat with the Rivian AI bot and it set me up with a service request for a mobile service for the knuckle campaign. A couple of days later I got a call scheduling a visit in 2 weeks, which isn't too bad considering they take the boat to our island only every 6 weeks or so. Oddly they wanted to know if I had a 12v battery charger. Maybe they're doing a 12v service too. Time will tell.

I just got this call. The service human said this cannot be done via mobile service:

  • Replace 12v battery ("I have two 12v batteries." "Oh, yes, you do - we'll replace both.")
  • Inspect/adjust hub bolts ("what hub bolts?" "Wheel hub bolts.")

I already had my portable charger seals replaced, so that wasn't offered with this session.

I just got the battery replacement and knuckle torque call for my R1S (March 23 build, June 23 delivery). They said mobile service will be in my area for a service event in the morning so they wanted to combine the trip and proactively replace my 12 volt. Fine by me!

Mobile service availability isn’t determined only by type of work. It’s also determined by staffing. It’s upto discretion of each service center on how they allocate the work.

This appears to be more of the issue. They were out mobile to mess with a key fob and did the knuckle bolts while they were here
