Picked up my R1S this weekend from Calgary and overall it went great. Absolutely loving the vehicle and it was worth the wait! Just wanted to share my experience for those that are curious about the process.
Overall it was really seamless and straightforward. Literally one piece of paperwork, and then straight into setup of key and app, etc. My delivery guide was really patient, gave me the time I needed to do a thorough delivery inspection (I even went underneath the R1S to check the underbody) and answered all my questions.
Some additional points from my experience:
- I found a pretty misaligned panel on the roof, which will likely need another visit. I also noticed a loose screw in the underbody panel. Nothing else too crazy but I think I’ll be looking to get these items fixed in a future service visit. The rest of the car (as of now) feels great though. The drive was smooth, interior quiet, and things all seem to be working really well.
- The car interior was dirtier than I’d like for a new delivery. Maybe it was because of my ocean coast interior, with the white making small stains look extra obvious. In the end no big deal especially since I plan on cleaning it and applying Gyeon ceramic coating anyways. Still, part of me feels like a $100k car should be spotless upon delivery. I love the OC interior and am so happy I chose it, even though I was reluctant at first.
- If you’re getting delivery on Saturday, the service team isn’t working so they won’t be able to make any quick adjustments. Not sure if they could during a weekday visit, but probably especially at this stage.
- They currently have vans for mobile service, but no staff yet. Just starting out!
- I asked my delivery guide about Canada shop access and he said he’s been pushing hard but getting no answer. If I had to guess, it could be a while.
- Driving home to Edmonton, I got excited because Driver+ worked even on Glenmore and Deerfoot but then stopped working a bit after Airdrie. It worked again in Red Deer but then stopped shortly after. So strange and I hope they can get Driver+ on all of QE2 asap for all the new Albertan owners.
That’s all I can think of for now - overall really happy with the purchase and super happy to be a Rivian owner. Now to find some affordable wheels that can be purchased in Canada (looking for something other than 2363s for now)!
