Picked up my R1S this weekend from Calgary and overall it went great. Absolutely loving the vehicle and it was worth the wait! Just wanted to share my experience for those that are curious about the process.

Overall it was really seamless and straightforward. Literally one piece of paperwork, and then straight into setup of key and app, etc. My delivery guide was really patient, gave me the time I needed to do a thorough delivery inspection (I even went underneath the R1S to check the underbody) and answered all my questions.

Some additional points from my experience:
- I found a pretty misaligned panel on the roof, which will likely need another visit. I also noticed a loose screw in the underbody panel. Nothing else too crazy but I think I’ll be looking to get these items fixed in a future service visit. The rest of the car (as of now) feels great though. The drive was smooth, interior quiet, and things all seem to be working really well.

- The car interior was dirtier than I’d like for a new delivery. Maybe it was because of my ocean coast interior, with the white making small stains look extra obvious. In the end no big deal especially since I plan on cleaning it and applying Gyeon ceramic coating anyways. Still, part of me feels like a $100k car should be spotless upon delivery. I love the OC interior and am so happy I chose it, even though I was reluctant at first.

- If you’re getting delivery on Saturday, the service team isn’t working so they won’t be able to make any quick adjustments. Not sure if they could during a weekday visit, but probably especially at this stage.

- They currently have vans for mobile service, but no staff yet. Just starting out!

- I asked my delivery guide about Canada shop access and he said he’s been pushing hard but getting no answer. If I had to guess, it could be a while.

- Driving home to Edmonton, I got excited because Driver+ worked even on Glenmore and Deerfoot but then stopped working a bit after Airdrie. It worked again in Red Deer but then stopped shortly after. So strange and I hope they can get Driver+ on all of QE2 asap for all the new Albertan owners.

That’s all I can think of for now - overall really happy with the purchase and super happy to be a Rivian owner. Now to find some affordable wheels that can be purchased in Canada (looking for something other than 2363s for now)!

Congrats Anjoo on taking delivery of your R1S1 As a native Edmontonian I'm hoping you - and I - see more on the road soon. I must say you are more understanding than I would have been with regard to that misaligned roof panel. Terrible. It's hard to understand how Rivian could have okay'd your vehicle for delivery with such an obvious defect. Be sure to get that taken care of asap. Otherwise I know you will enjoy the OC interior as much as I do. Cheers!

Congrats! I would recommend getting some PPF on the front at least with all the sand on the roads right now, I picked up a few chips in the first month or so and that was in the summer.

The Driver+ can be a little frustrating, around Lethbridge there are random parts of highway 3 where it works for 1-5km the cuts out and so far nothing on secondary highways. That being said it's available on more every time I go to Calgary or out to BC.

Still no gearshop access is getting kind of silly. A paint pen is like $80+ if you order it through the US shop.

Welcome to the club! I'm coming up on a year, and still love it as much as day 1.

I actually had the same issue with the roof trim piece, which they easily fixed under warranty (super smooth process). But when they did, they also wound up chipping the roof glass which turned into a crack, which they then also fixed on warranty (also smooth as butter). Everyone/everything was still new in Vancouver at that point, so it was a learning experience. But when you pick it up, just take a look around the roof glass. It's thin (for weight savings?), so can crack pretty easily.

I am picking up my R1T Friday if things go according to plan. I was supposed to get it last week but it was pushed back in order to replace a panel that was scuffed up on delivery. I did tell my guide that I wouldn't take delivery if there were issues with vehicle like misaligned panels and asked him to make sure that any issues were addressed before delivery. I am hoping that this resulted in a more careful inspection of the vehicle.

That said it is easier for me to walk away from delivery and wait for repairs to be done as I live in Calgary. It must have been disappointing to travel from Edmonton only to discover bad panel assembly. Let us know how the replacement process goes.

The replacement process was seamless - remote service so I didn’t even need to go down to Calgary. Communication was top notch. I’ve hit over 5000 km and my car has been incredibly reliable (knock on wood). So so happy with my R1S and with Rivian so far. Just wish they could map the freeways so I could use Driver+ Highway Assist in Edmonton!

Got my R1T 2 weeks ago and it was sitting outside and really dirty. As it was raining I couldn’t check anything till I got home. I have an appointment next week for them to try to fix everything. Here are some of the issues I found:

The scratches on the driver’s door sill were a bit of a surprise. I know the dealership only opened 6 months ago but you cant have the employees regularly scratching brand new vehicles with their shoes.

Dang, hope everything gets fixed to your standard. My mobile tech seemed very competent and I felt like he took good care of the repair so hopefully all your defects will get fixed!
