Can you run the xpel fusion wraps through the car wash? My hand washing and detailing days are over!

I'll be keeping my truck outside. I just had my R1T completely wrapped in the XPEL Ultimate Fusion which has the ceramic coat built-in.

Your truck looks amazing. I was actually wondering about the cork fusion, but the company's i went to did not offer it. I finally found a place I liked and mine is in the shop now getting paint correction, Ultimate plus full front, ceramic coat all the way around, and tint all the way around.

They will take more pics when done, but here are a few progress pics

thanks for all the input. Honestly, resale isn't factoring in much... For me, it is an upkeep vs cost thing. i will pay X for the benefit of easier maintenance and rock chip protection but then have to baby the Rivian by hand washing, etc.... vs no having the slickness of the ceramic coat, or the protection of the the full front PPF, but can just send through the automated car wash when dirty.

decisions, decisions.... lol
Front PPF and ceramic coating is not that expensive and will help keep the vehicle finish looking great. Whether you go that route or not absolutely DO NOT take your Rivian, or any decent vehicle for that matter, through an automatic car wash. Hand washing in Houston is not much more than than the cost of an automatic car wash.

Did you have the PPF installed over the headlight? I heard some vehicle manufacturers advise against it.

My $.02, I wash my cars perhaps once a year. I’m not a dirty person. I just don’t get any joy or satisfaction out of a shiny metal box.

If I did find joy in a pretty ? truck, I would probably consider PPF and/or ceramic coating. They seem like good products, albeit expensive.

Good afternoon everyone

I have always planned on getting PPF and ceramic coating for my Rivian, when i get it, but a thought just occurred to me and I would love to get feedback.

This is going to be kept outside. As much as I would love to keep my Rivian in the garage, it is just not feasible. I currently have a monthly subscription for the three cars i have at the local car wash and take them frequently. I have the top tier of wash. Even though not perfect, they keep the cars pretty clean and the car wash keeps its equipment pretty nice.

If i get a ceramic coat, I have heard I should not go through the wash. I only take my Tesla through the wash, because the ceramic coating is pretty old and even getting it reapplied through the detailing isn't as effective anymore.

so the thought process is this: If my Rivian is going to stay outside when at home and get the elements and dust, is it better to just add it to my monthly plan and take it frequently vs babying the ceramic coat, hand washing at least weekly, and still seeing it get dusty right away?

any input is greatly appreciated.

Adam
I've had my R1T 3 weeks now and it lives outside for now. I live in Chattanooga Tennessee and pick my r1t up from Atlanta about 90 miles away. Just driving home I had a crop a bugs plated out over the front of the truck. And some of them are really hard to scrub off.

So I decided to put front ppf on my r1t. I went with expel Plus and the total cost for the front the windows and the rocker panels was $2,700.

For those that are DIY sort that want to spend a little less money you can buy ppf specifically for the R1T from Amazon from TWRAPS to cover the part of the truck that you'd like to have covered. However for the front they only have the flat part right above the grill and light covers.

I had bugs everywhere on the front of my truck so I decided to go to Sun stoppers here in Chattanooga and have them put it on. You can also buy some inexpensive relatively easy to apply ceramic coating on your own for around $130 bucks. That's what I'm doing. To each his on but I can't see working so hard to get those bugs off every time I go somewhere.

I'll probably try to wash my truck a couple times a month and after every big trip. Good luck with yours.!

I have never gotten PPF on any vehicle. I'm not that particular about scratches and dings. They happen. I even responded as such on a few threads here.

And then I got my Rivian... And now I have full front PPF.

I have never paid this much for a truck and it is a giant painted front surface that catches every rock and bug on the road. I came around when I was finally standing in front of it and decided it's worth protecting. So I had a local shop do the full front, mirrors and some touch surfaces.
