I heard many good things about ABRP here in this forum so I went to https://abetterrouteplanner.com/ site to check it out. The first thing it asks me is to join the premium plan. Is this worth the upgrade? If it is how much is it in dollar? I am not even sure if they accept dollar currency according to the screen shot I provided here. Thanks for your input guys!

Google: convert 5 euro to dollars

They are nearly even, you'll pay a few cents more than $5. And I haven't used premium at all, but the only thing I can think of that I want from it is a trailer towing setting. I've gotten around this with the Tesla by just creating a Tesla variant that uses 450 watts instead of 250. I have no idea if the trailer mode would be more accurate.

Good question. If you have an A2Z DCFC NACS adapter, I would tend to say hold off on the premium membership unless you plan road trips in areas with little charging infrastructure. Before NACS adapters, I used Premium for road trip planning because you really needed to do so. Now, not so much. If you love navigation as a hobby, it is a fun app for trying stuff out.

I had premium ABRP and didn’t find it particularly useful for my needs. I’m fine with PlugShare + on-board Rivian nav (and supplemental use of Waze and GMaps).

I like trip planning in PlugShare better. I think a lot of people don’t even know it is there but I like it.

Use the free version of ABRP first, see if it meets your needs. I like it, but I don't totally trust it. I always route with it, then verify manually.

I can't figure out how to make it useful. Pretty sure it's a "me" problem but just gave up and stuck to ABRP free.

I second this and assume it will become even more true as rivian implements more of ABRP into their software. My biggest issue was that the range estimates were always off, the native rivian navigation seems to do better in my experience.

I'm glad ABRP is there. The free version of ABRP is easy to customize across many parameters, using the "hamburger" (three horizontal lines) icon in the upper right of the screen.

I use ABRP for its rough estimates of hours of travel (including charging) and for suggestions of the fastest charging times. Then I use Apple Maps or Google Maps to verify that the route is reasonable, and I use PlugShare to find chargers that better fit our needs in the moment.

Why is ABRP not enough by itself? The attached route from Wibaux (I-94, eastern Montana) to Spokane WA, whose direct route is 787 miles on I-94 and I-90, goes through Canada and takes 32+ hours (including 11+ hours of charging time). I couldn't imagine anything more absurd, so I took this screenshot:

I took that screenshot, but I won't take that route.

Best to all!

It shocks me how close ABRP is. Usually within 2 to 3% for 200+ miles of highway driving.
