Picked up my brand new 2025 R1S Tri on Tuesday. On Thursday, I was detailing it in the garage and the side mirrors started acting odd. They kept sounding like they were going to close, but they never did. I would hear the motors of each mirror buzzing for about 5-10 seconds. Then, it would stop for about 5 or 10 seconds and then start again. This was constant. I tried locking it and walking away with my phone so it was not in range, but it would keep making that noise like it was trying to close. I tried resetting the function to close the mirror when parked, but that didn't change anything. Does anybody have any ideas on what I can do? Or, is this going to be a service call 48 hours after taking delivery?

Thought they might be bumped in, but this is obviously an issue. Service ticket.

Always try a full reset first. If that doesn't resolve it, submit a ticket for service.
Hopefully you are near a service center or they can send mobile.
In the meantime, if the reset doesn't fix the issue, I suggest disabling "fold mirrors" in settings so you don't needlessly potentially cause more issues/damage to the motors. I usually disable the folding mirrors from about Dec - April anyway because I've had them freeze open or shut depending on winter weather conditions.....luckily it is just frustrating, but not a major problem or driving issue.

I went through the Full Reset and it didn't resolve the issue. I tried toggling the Auto Side Mirror Unfold feature on and off and that didn't have any effect either. I really don't want to have to make a service appointment for a vehicle that is only 2 days old.

"brand new" is when you will first notice the assembly errors. I'm guessing someone didn't snap in a connector properly, or something simple to that effect. A bad motor would not affect both mirror, for instance.

So don't think of this as it "broke" when it was still new, think of it as it doesn't work yet until they correct the step that was done wrong in assembly.

Regardless, like @RivAW said, try a hard reset first which will set all the electronics back to a known state, which will might correct the problem. If not, Rivian will fix it. Might just be a case of walking you through how to calibrate the mirrors (if that's even a thing ...)

I’ve had my R1T 10 days and my driver’s mirror stopped folding last night with a loud buzzing noise. I’ve booked a service visit to fix it.

Have you tried an Entertainment System reboot? (see owners manual for process)

It’s mechanical in my case, I found the mirror would fold/unfold if I applied a little pressure, it would work for a couple of cycles then stop again with the buzzing sound. The buzzing sound reminds of a gear or pawl skipping engagement.

I’ve got the same issue I think. Mine fold and unfold - but then once unfolded they making a loud buzzing sound for a good 10 seconds. if they can do a mobile service then great. But not looking forward to a service appointment if it’s going to be week long effort.
