Wow. So many XM haters for those that claim to be in adventure vehicles that go to places where you shouldn’t get cell service to stream.

I lose cell coverage 2 miles from my house in the mountains. If I want to listen to the football game or hockey game while driving to the ski area, Satellite is the only way to do so.I fully understand how it works and used to have it.
Dead tech in modern cars.
I reached out to Rivian this summer about SiriusXM. I was told they will roll it out this early winter on a trial/subscription basis> They assured me it is on the way!So I have had Sirius since it launched in 2002. Had it in my Tesla that I got rid of when I picked up my R1S. While I can play Sirius via the app/bluetooth the experience sucks because I can’t really channel surf without becoming a highly distracted driver.
I’m a huge music nut but I also get news etc from the satellites. Anyone have strong feelings about not having access to Sirius straight from the car? Anybody heard of an update that Rivian may add this service???
Perhaps we can all band together and put some pressure on the tech folks at Rivian to make this happen???
If they do this via software, then it will be over cellular and Connect+, not satellite. If someone wants actual direct from satellite reception, that's hardware. Many people are confused by the fact that XM has become a media and online company, not a satellite company. That's the only thing that has saved them.I reached out to Rivian this summer about SiriusXM. I'm in the same boat. I've got a lifetime subscription that I actually had installed for the first time I believe in 1999 in my then 98 Ford Expedition... had to buy hardware to make it function and integrate in the stock radio of my Expedition as I recall... In any event that subscription that I've been transferring car to car for $20 and no additional expense does not have "streaming" over a phone... no streaming in the late 1990's or early 2000, so I can't stream and I'm wondering if there's a hardware fix, because like you I get news and all the music I can dream of etc. streaming is nice but not that great especially when you're not in cell phone range which out west in the mountains is not uncommon.I reached out to Rivian this summer about SiriusXM. I’m not seeing the comedy stations on the trial of sirrus xmAs a former satellite radio subscriber, I saw the appeal vs. terrestrial radio in the better sound, consistent content while on road trips, and more variety that satellite gave me. But now, basically all of those have been eclipsed by streaming services.
News may be slightly clunkier as the broadcasts are released as podcasts a few times a day, but it may be a worthwhile tradeoff. (I hate listening to the news.)
If you are determined to have a better SXM experience now, you could look to a dashboard phone mount. Just having the interface on the screen won't really keep you from being distracted.
