Now that winter is approaching I am preparing for our first ski trip in the R1S in about a week. How are folks here transporting skis (and boards) inside the R1S? I am not looking for feedback on exterior options.

I am thinking I would put the middle part down in the second row and lay something down there to keep sharp edges and snowmelt off the upholstery. Anyone have any tips or things you did that worked well? Thanks!

You might consider a ski travel bag just to make sure you don't rip some leather or get the interior dirty.

I haven't done it yet, but my plan is to have the 3rd row down + 2nd row's middle portion down.

It has worked well with similar vehicles in the past. If we need to carry more gear, I'll put the driver's side entirely down (2nd row and 3rd row).

I use a Dakine FallLine ski back to keep all our skis organized and off of the seats directly with the third row down and the center arm rest in the second row down. I added the roof racks for this season which we’ll use most of the time, but the bag is great for the car and trips, especially because we have little kid skis that are a bit harder to fit in the racks.

Third row seats folded down; second row center section down; skis in a carry bag, plus an old sheet under the skis, and in the back under boots and other gear.

3rd row down, driver's side 2nd row down. Open hatch, put in skis. Close hatch.

I do have Canvasback liner throughout, and I put a towel over the leading end of the skies, in case they slide. But they never do.
