So hard R1T or R1S?

man, Rivian makes it hard! I like features of both models, hard to choose.
I like the T for hauling gear, stuff, but like the optional 3 rd row of seats and fully enclosed SUV.

Leaning toward the T (what i reserved initially) as carrying 7 people will not happen often, and putting bike on top of the S (and getting down) will be a pain in the butt. I have a rear mounted rack now on my Audi, but hate that I have to lower it, or remove the bikes first to get into the rear. Not sure if i am missing something, but think the T cheeks a lot more boxes for most adventurers who are cool with a 5 person option.

They make hitch-mounted bike rack that swing down out of the way to access the rear cargo area. I have one made by Thule that I use on my Jeep.

We went with the R1S. We’re only a family of 3 but want the extra space for family trips and camping. We‘re planning on replacing our 2013 Ford Explorer with the R1S.

Our expected delivery is end of 2023 so we still have a while till we get our hands on it. I’m sure by then there will be more options available like the Hyundai ionic 7 and the Kia EV9 which are expected to come out in 2024.

I keep going back and forth too. Wife wants a 3 row SUV (only would use 3rd row probably once or twice a year though, and don't NEED it, would just be a convenience thing). I refuse to buy another ICE vehicle, so it may hinge on availability of other 3 row EVs. I prefer to get the R1T, but I could convert my R1T reservation to an R1S for her, and keep my Silverado reservation for myself if there aren't better options when the time comes. Interested to see what VW, Kia, and Hyundai release. Those seem to be the best options for the near future.

Wife wants a 3-row SUV too. I keep arguing for a 2-row and stuff the mother-in-law in the frunk. It's a never ending discussion (along with a lot of dodging 'n' weaving from all the stuff she throws at me during this 'conversation') ?

The frunk seems like a bad idea. But how many children can you transport in the gear tunnel?

SUV makes more sense for my family, but the Max pack would help aleve my concerns about unreliable charging network and slow DC charging and rate.

But I'm not at the front of the line. Perhaps there will be a larger battery R1S by the time my turn comes around.

Would be hard to stuff her in the gear tunnel seeing how the R1S doesn't have one, but low it be me for not attempting it!!
