This is a well known "experience" with Tesla's too. The phenomenon seems to come and go over time with different software versions. It's not worrisome unless it's happening often (weekly or less?) in which case you might want to ask service about it.

This happen to me twice so far. Both screens black out. Both time on the hwy in cruise control.
Called Rivian the next day, they had me do a reboot. I read a lot of forums, Rivian change the cooling fluid, air bubbles in the cooling fluid? Several Rivian have had this problem with no one stating a cure for this. It will put you in the extreme defense if you are in fog, at night, on the hwy. It was like being in a Harbor loosing your radar. If Rivian does not have a reason or a fix, they will loose this customer. I buy only the best radar on ships!

While driving yesterday both screens suddenly went blank and the music stopped. Everything else worked normal. I slowed down, sped up, went through a roundabout, etc., and then the main screen showed to be rebooting. It took about a minute for both screens to return, and I kept driving normally. Once I stopped I was able to go through the screens, with each one acting like they do after a software update, with a slight delay as if it's reloading from scratch. No errors or warnings of any type. No issues at all except for the sudden cessation of both screens.
Recently turned 9,000 miles and have had the R1T since March of 2022, with nary an issue since then. It appears to just be a fluke of some sort, but wanted to see if anyone has had a similar issue. I couldn't find anything during a deep search on this site.
It literally just happened to me. Exact same issue. No harm done but bizarre.

I had about 7 driver facing screen reboots plus numerous disengagements yesterday
Some with audible warnings and no visual warnings I think because screens were freezing up. Sometimes audio started to hiccup and others main screens wouldn't change.

I caught images of a few, which gave me timestamps and locations to provide on my ticket submitted today. Guess we'll see what might be going on though.

Some of these were with with normal driving, cruise and driver assist. All happened on major roads 94 and 80 within Illinois/Indiana/Michigan corridors.

Possibly of note, I was using the 120v outlet in the gear tunnel during this drive. I've used it before without these issues though, mentioning in case it's related... Maybe something 12v system... Who knows. I did have the similar issue happen today with no 120v in use (after turning it off and having seen the freeze/reset again today during just normal driving).
