I went into this in the other thread, but Teen mode is something Rivian should consider (maybe alongside Valet Mode).

GM does this on their cars.

* Limit acceleration / throttle mapping
* Max speed
* App Notifications
* Max volume on the entertainment system
* Car does not shift to drive if the driver seatbelt is not on

Our cars are coming off leases and hitting the used market. Gen 1's will depreciate a lot over the next 2-3 years. It's only a matter of time before you start seeing 850HP Gen 1 Quad motors in a high school parking lot near you

Never thought my expensive Rivian would be a teen mobile anytime soon but yeah it’s happening. Those teslas definitely need it. My niece drives one and it’s way too much car for her…I think. I’m old school.

Most of that list is of things I didn't know I needed...... at least until somebody told me. I continue to like the vehicle for my use case. Going to trade my wife's BMW X6 PHEV. Probably going regular hybrid. Looked at Palisade hybrid & Lexus TX 500h. The screen layouts & controls make Rivian look great. What a busy mess on both of those (BMW too). Palisade is noisy even though windows are double pane.

Native apple podcast app if we can’t get CarPlay! Waze alerts would be great too, since it’s already running google maps.

For DIY types with vehicle coming off warranty, an actual parts catalog and repair manual in the app would be fantastic.

Tesla has text messaging which is integrated with the phone. It’s not pretty, but it’s capable of sending and receiving. I just think there’s too many clicks involved.

Came here to say the same. The lack of any real text integration seems like such a basic and weird thing to have promised forever but never yet manage to pull off in a release.

Based on this, I'm unilaterally adding a third entry to Oxford dictionary definition of "soon":

soon (s00n) /so͞on/
adverb

1. in or after a short time.

2. used to indicate one's preference in a particular matter.
   "I'd just as soon Tim did it"
   
   
3. In Rivian speak, somewhere between a short time and as of November 2025, 30 months.

Get the heck out of here with an on/off button. My wife's mercedes EQE has one and it's one of the most frustrating/infuriating things about the car.

How bad is it? I think I would like keep it asleep sometimes since it’s always waking and sleeping when I pack the car.

I think “sooon” stands for “sometimes only optimistic, otherwise never”

Yes! Don’t like it plugged in at 100% for hours before I leave on road trips.

I wonder how many Rivian software upgrades cannot be implemented because they use android automotive?

For example, the radio delay is an issue with the operating system and not a Rivian issue. Cars that don't use android automotive do not have this issue.

Creep, crawl and coast can't come because that changes EPA rating.
