While you are under warranty, just put in a service ticket. It's possible door handles are among the many parts that have received continuous iteration (supply production side). Add anything else that you might want done to the same ticket to make the inconvenience/interruption more worthwhile. The call center generalists are not the most knowledgeable (unless they happen to be owners too with vested interest). They are just call center operators. The SC folks tend to have better picture on what the common issues are and what remedies there are. But that doesn't mean SC folks are perfect either. The common dash rumble/rattle, first appt. SC staff (who isn't an owner) said they couldn't replicate. Second appt., handled by a new SC staff who is an owner and knew exactly what I was talking about and got the assigned tech to fix it (loose wiring harness).I still have this annoying noise on my Gen 2, talked to phone support and he said he hadn't heard of this issue, so I did some searching and there's a service bulletin for it: RSB-56-26-002-1
Not really a solution, it's just them saying to use the wildly expensive Krytox 205 grease to lubricate it away. How they haven't felt the need to do a more serious recall to avoid the embarrassment to the brand that noise causes is beyond me. Are they making a point to just pack that grease in newer builds?
There appears to be more tolerance in the R2 handles (space surrounding the actual handle). Mechanism sounds better than R1 Gen 1 & 2 in my opinion.I was told they're aware of the issue but they don't have a fix for it.
Hopefully they've fixed it with R2
