Squeaky wheel is putting it mildly. For whatever reason, I was using the truck (2023 RT1) & one of the wheels started a grinding/squeal that I've not heard. Sounded like metal on metal or something got in one of the wheels. I continued to use it & while it continued for a bit, and nothing I did it just stopped & hasn't been heard from since. I thought I'd heard of this or maybe even had a friends make the same noise....it's been 1,000 miles since then so I'm not concerned but feel like I might see it again & if anyone has info on it that would help my brain

Well you know what they say about the squeaky wheel. If it's not squeaking don't give it grease! lolol

In all seriousness, if it's not causing issues or annoyance, I wouldn't sweat it

Could have been a rock or similar debris between the inner heat shield and the brake rotor. It could have dislodged over time.

That's where my limited mechanical brain was going, the fact that it just disappeared sort of proved something on the lines of that. Thx

I am at 80K and I am on my second set of rotors/brake pads. The whistle/grinding is the sign to take a look at the rear inner pad thickness. Especially if you use a lot of D+ and cruise control.

This is my guess as well. OP might also choose to remove the wheel and see if the dust shield is tweaked at all.

I had an accident in my Miata a little over 20 years ago where I put the car into a ditch. Body shop replaced the front control arm and sent me on my way, but I noticed the car would "sing" from the driver's front corner whenever I'd put it in reverse. I took the wheel off and found the dust shield was slightly bent and contacting the rotor. The metal is thin and easy to bend (and bend back).

I recently had the same issue the culprit loose bolt check the pictures. It stopped making the noise once the bolt hot all the way out somewhere on 15 freeway in southern california. Raise your vehicle turn the wheel and check the bolts.
