At this rate my LCID stocks will enable me to buy the Rivian instead of RIVN !

Lucid Air is starting to intrigue me, time to visit the showroom
Agreed, I have a Model S and build quality and features of the Lucid Air look much nicer. Maybe with my windfall on LCID and future RIVN gains may allow me to buy both … hopefully! ?

It’s a sedan. A Very expensive sedan. I think they missed the mark. Nobody buys sedans anymore.

Maybe, I'd probably buy a sedan. Two things make me interested: (1) UI/UX looks way better, coupled with just enough analog touches, great driver-oriented cockpit; (2) they know EV performance and chassis tuning, much more so than - I suspect - Tesla and Rivian.

If I like the interior better, I can choose to wait for Gravity or buy the sedan.

I drove big Fords all my life. Then Bought the MS and sold the truck. 4 years later, I want a truck again. I would Never buy another sedan again. Especially one as expensive as a Lucid.

I hear you and relate to your position. So much so that I put my money on a Raptor. Once I drive the Raptor for 6 mo. to 1 year, depending on what is happening with Rivian or some other models, I might change my direction. If nothing in the market is really interesting, I'll keep the Raptor.

I am not in the market specifically for an EV, just something that is interesting and something I have never had previously. EV falls into that category, truck falls into that category for me. So an EV truck is superb, but I also have to acknowledge R1T's shortcomings, again just from my perspective.

Well said. We are so early in overall EV adoption that they truly fall short of ICE vehicles.
I am set to order a 2022 Raptor R in November as my Ford a dealer has told me the order banks will open up.

At this point we cancelled the R1S and kept the R1T reservation. I think the Gravity will be the vehicle to replace our XC90 when the time comes. Range is king and we will buy as much as we can.

The experience as a preorder holder with Lucid has been 1000x better than with Rivian for the simple fact that we’ve been kept informed along the way. I’m still super excited for the R1S, but wish they’d take a page from Lucid‘s customer communications playbook.
Interesting to hear someone who has both reserved to confirm my impressions.

I'm an early R1S Launch Edition reservation holder and an early Lucid Grand Touring reservation holder. I've had little to no communication from either company outside of a couple of standard emails.

If I had to place a bet, I would guess I'll likely end up with the Lucid Grand Touring before the R1S which is a bit disappointing.

They had to make it exciting for delivery day…because when those customers get home they’ll realize they just bought an electric Camry for $140k and won’t that be deflating. ?‍♂?
I have little interest in the Lucid, that car is a whole lot better than a Camry...

I really don’t buy in to the range is king argument at all. For most people nearly every EV on the market can be charged at home and only need to visit a fast charger a handful of times a year. Most Americans drive less than 50 - 100 miles a day for over 350 days a year. Unless you:
- road trip very often for greater than 200 miles one way
- go to remote places with little charging infrastructure
- tow things frequently
- are in the extreme range of daily driving habits
- can’t setup a home charger
then a 300 mile range car (210 miles when only charged to 70%) is sooo much more than you need. Prioritizing exteme range vehicles to make a few days a year slightly more convenient seems odd. to put it another way, for many people the max pack is a $10,000 expense to save a few hours a year of time sitting at a charger.

If you fall in to those categories then yes range is king and perhaps ev’s aren’t yet ready for you. For the rest of us a real world highway range of 250+ miles is totally reasonable.
