Does it make sense to run your R1T wifi through Starlink Mini permanently? Will it improve your connection rate over LTE?

No. It's only 100Mb/s and higher latency.

There is a cell service booster well thought of in the overloading crowd, turning 0 bars into 1-3 when turned on. I forget the name of it but by the time I find it someone else will post it.

Having seem the reviews, I would grab that WAY before a subscription based satellite system. BUT if you are regularly in the middle of nowhere and need something, satellite is your only option.

It depends on where you’re at. For me the mini is faster than the 5G speeds I usually see and definitely faster than LTE. If I have cell service there isn’t much of a reason to use it though so in reality the mini exceeds all cell speeds because there are none when it’s in use. I see 100mbps and faster even when driving down the road with latency low enough for easy FaceTime calls.

WeBoost, not sure about the well thought of part though, mixed reviews.

Always mixed reviews on everything, but the real overlanders/hunters I've talked to swear by them. Another hour of cell service before losing it is worth it to them...And portable to move between vehicles. YMMV.

When we’re off the grid, the Starlink Mini is our go-to—because, honestly, nothing else comes close.

Unlike LTE and 5G, which are unreliable (or completely useless) in many of the places we explore, Starlink keeps evolving, much like Rivian’s OTA updates—constantly improving, no matter where adventure takes us.

Side note: I choose products based on what works best for my family and me—not based on politics.

We do backpacking (not overloading) and for us the right combination is to download maps on Gaia GPS and then use the iPhone built-in satellite for emergencies. I imagine it would be very nice to have the downloadable map function for the Nav screen if you are overloading. Rivian should do that.

I saw the original announcement and want to see it in person just to figure out will it work for the few times a year I get close to off-grid. Did you just take the leap or go see it somewhere? I don't think there are any dealers right?

It just works, there’s not much to see or demo. Plug it in, wait a couple minutes for the dish to establish a connection and you have internet.

What @Thedude said! It just works. Just saw a documentary on the dish factory in Bastrop, TX yesterday. They are producing 15,000 kits a day now or some ridiculous number.

Appreciate it. I have great success with it as well. Do you ever just use it when Lte is available? Does it provide better results.

For me it has provided overall better results than the Rivian LTE across the board. YMMV
