Opal (our R1T) has a new trick that she has been performing. When her steering wheel adjusts toward or away from the dash, it makes a rather loud and quite authentic flatuent sound. This behavior started a couple of weeks ago. I was hoping that it would go away on its own, but doesn't seem to be diminishing. I cannot think of any corrective action. Any thoughts?

Mine had this. SC fixed it, but it is coming back.

We had this in our R1S and then the R1T more recently. The fix is quite simple. Take a paper towel, fold it into a square, and put just a bit of cooking oil on it. Rub the oil on the surface below the steering wheel column against which it rubs when it moves toward you or away from you. Adjust the steering wheel and if you still hear the sound, put a bit more oil on the surface.

Again, this has worked really well. I did this for my wife’s R1S about six months ago and the sound hasn’t come back.

Mine started this as well. I think it has to do with the cooler temperatures. I had this occurring last winter as well but it went away during the summer.

Lactaid.

Or mineral oil. I don't suggest any vegetable based cooking oil, it'll dry/harden over time and become sticky.
Dry Silicon Spray? I'd be concerned that any oil based product would breakdown over time, leaving residue and/or attacking the plastic.

I use roomy entry and exit. Mobile service technician came out to fix by removing the plastic cover under steering wheel bottom. He then extended steering column fully towards driver seat then adjusted the leather/plastic cover and foam insert around steering column and placed the foam backwards into the dash.

I was then requested to do a few entry and exit from the vehicle to activate roomy entry and exit. Once the mobile technician verified that the sounds was no longer present the steering column bottom cover was returned and I did a few more entry exit to verify that the noise was not there with cover on as well.

Noise has not returned since being fixed almost 18 months ago. Fix still working.

Riviot, lord have mercy, I hadn’t thought of that. The veggie oil worked, but folks please follow Riviot’s guidance.

Similar issue here, but more like a squeak. I'm at 6,600 miles so I'll have the mobile tech address it during the 7,500 mile service. Not a big deal.

I also have this issue. Mobile service coming next month. Ironically, it started after the SC replaced my steering wheel. It seems to rub on the pad below the steering column.

I've had it from almost the very first day, 9/22. SC looked at it but didn't fix it. Still happens everytime the steering wheel moves in or out. Learned to just ignore it...

That gives me one more thing I can blame the R1 for, next time my wife accuses me.
