Anyone had a shake over 65mph that had nothing to do with the wheel balance?
I've had this issue for months. I went to discount tire over 5 times and they rebalance them every time but the steering wheel shake is still there. The main issue is, it's intermittent. I can accelerate onto the freeway and when I get to 75-85, the steering wheel shakes like crazy, and then I lower my speed, the shake is gone - I go back up to 75-85 and the steering wheel is solid, no shake at all.
The SC wants to just perform a wheel balance and they have no other idea. I'm thinking it might be a loose steering rack, a loose bolt or something like that. Anyone had a similar issue resolved by the SC?

Yep, my steering wheel shakes all the time over 60mph since Sept 2022. multiple tire balances, new tires, and 3 SC visits = NO improvement. Get the standard SC response "Within Specification" whatever the hell that means. In Spec my Arse, I've never had a steering wheel shake like this.
And its going back to the SC next month with a laundry list of items including....steering wheel vibration.

Mine does the same. It’s gotten better as the tires have worn. I used to not be able to drive over 80 even after multiple rebalances.

Mine was shaking for ever even after multiple balances until I found one shop who did a hunter force wheel balance and brought each tire below 15lb wheel force and the shake is finally gone all the way up to at least 90-100mph as I haven’t bothered trying going that fast in this tank

Are y'all on ATs? That just sounds like standard AT driving, regardless of brand or vehicle, they're (generally) all awful over 70mph.

Have y'all tried changing the wheels/tires to an AS set? I would suggest somehow doing this and see if it still shakes. Mt AT3W tires are rough over 70 and shaky pretty hard, my AS+3 set (on identical wheels, balanced well by the same folk) are smooth as butter up to 90s.

Oh dang that doesn't sound normal, definitely have the SC look at it, they may find something like you suggest. How many miles are on the tires, and/or the tread depth? Unless they're under 4/32", it shouldn't be bad.

I just picked up a QUAD with 22-inch sport black wheels, and the car violently shakes above 80 mph. Since it came like this from the factory, it’s likely a balance issue, but we’ll see.

Has anyone had success with a fix for this?

discount tire just measured them to be 6-7/32nds. They’re perfectly within spec…
I went to discount tire again today and I told them it still shakes. They performed road-force balance on them and find all the wheels to be 0.25-1.25oz out of balance
The same store rebalanced the tires yesterday!!!!! I couldn’t believe it.
It’s a lot better now but still shakes intermittently, not as violently.
I’ll wait for my appointment with the mobile mechanic on the 9th and see if they can install the new steering wheel that they use to fix the shake. Maybe that’s my issue…

there should be a TSB for this. they replaced my steering wheel and it fixed it
Thank you for your input! I’m glad they were able to take care of it for you!
Can you please post a picture of your invoice(I want the invoice to see how they described your concern and the steps they took to correct it)? I want to have the TSB # to show the SC before the mobile appointment..

You need a good shop with a hunter road force Elite balancer machine. They can give you a print out of the road force in each wheel. They can match mount the tires to wheels as well which helps.

It could be a problem with the tires or the wheels being out of round. Get the print outs for each wheel and a good shop will be able to tell you where the problem lies.

With a Tesla my shop has to send back two tires because they wouldn't road force to their standards. The other possibly is alignment but more than likely balance is the issue here.

Yes, we too have this same issue when hitting speeds above 80mph. We are a 2024 DM R1S on ATs, we’ve re balanced once with no change in results and the Denver service center says this is normal and within spec. We had a loaner QM on ATs that did not have this issue.

Nope, I got 22s, OEM Pirelli road tires. Now on continential terrain Contact HT. Wheel vibration no diff. Had Dis Tire rebalance the new continentials twice…no change. BTW, I like the continentals better than the OEM Pirs

Did you ask DT to road force balance the tires? That's been the difference between some shake and zero shake for my vehicle.
