Looks good, and interesting to have that extra storage space. Definitely will be switching to either this or the hardwired Adventure Mat when they are available.

question, how well does the phone stay in place with this? I have a MagSafe case on my phone and with the stock charger, my phone slides all over the place.
I have the previous gen charger from AdentureHighTech, similar setup with MagSafe to this new gen. My phone doesn’t slide anywhere, I haven’t had it move (while driving) once latched magnetically. I imagine the new charger will be similar.

It's very secure with MagSafe. I mean, it won't stay put in a wreck, but other than that I think it'll be good.

This looks great! When will we be able to buy it?
I'm currently working on getting a couple out to testers. After making a couple, I'm not completely happy with my soft flock process for the drawer and am looking into some different adhesives. My current process gives good results but has some downsides. It takes 24 hrs. to dry and then can be handled. However, it takes a week to fully cure and has an unpleasant odor during that time. I've talked to some experts and there are better options I'm going to try. To answer your question... not yet? :)

Yes. It's easy to pull out if you are not familiar. I'll be making an install video.

Looks terrific. Will this fit plus-sized phones like the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Samsung S23 Ultra?

I've done it before, then had to reconnect it when my Fob wouldn't take an update it needed. As soon as I reconnected the Rivian QI pad, the Fob update initialized and completed successfully. Without the QI pad connected to the Rivian wire harness, I got and error message "Fob not found" even though the Fob worked to lock/unlock/run the vehicle.

My advice is for owners to keep their original QI pad handy in case their Fob ever needs an update.

Interesting... I can say from my experience I updated my FOB without the rivian charger pad installed. Maybe coincidence in your case?

Yes to iPhone 14 Pro Max... Samsung, I can't say for sure but likely as I know it works with the XL AdventureMat.

Just what I needed to know. Looks like I'll be replacing my AdventureMat in the near future.

Can't say for sure, neither could Rivian support or engineering... they even connected to my vehicle remotely and still couldn't see my fob. We were ready to schedule a service visit when I remembered I disconnected the Rivian QI pad earlier.

Before reconnecting the Rivian QI pad, I tried the fob in as many locations as I could reach from the driver's seat (including the NFC coils in the doors) and all I got was "Fob not detected", as soon as I reconnected the Rivian QI pad the fob update worked on the first try.

Luckily it's not a show stopper for your product in any case as 1) the fobs hardly ever need updating, and 2) if your fob does need and update, just plug your original Rivian QI pad for 2min and update your fob then unplug it and plug your device back in.

Just a quick update on production. I had a couple minor issues with my first couple test units and ended up trashing them - so I haven't gotten test units out yet. I have those specific issues solved at this point. But there are couple more things to finalize:

#1: The cure time of the flock + odor. I've got a new adhesive specifically designed for flock that should arrive tomorrow. It only takes an hour to dry and 24hrs to cure and the manufacturer has told me no odor. Optimistic it will work!

#2: I have not been happy with the vinyl on the front lip. It's such a small piece and wrapping it around the edge isn't really feasible (edge is too sharp). So, I either have to trim it or not quite come all the way to the edge. Trimming isn't always great - very hard for me to not nick the inner edge when doing this and then it looks like crap. Leaving it a little short of the edge also isn't as nice as I'd want it. So - I've tried painting it instead and I'm very happy with the results. This is the way!

I've also tried painting the phone rest upper portion - I'm not 100% sure on it. Generally I'll need to pull off very clean prints for this piece or I have to do too much prep before the paint. Also, painting tends to make the magsafe circles show through more - although part of thinks that's a feature not a bug. Using vinyl for this piece and paint for the front lip does mean they are slightly different blacks, but since they sit at different levels it's not very noticeable - I personally have trouble telling them apart. So still leaning towards vinyl on the upper part but will test some more.

TLDR: Still working on the final small details. If all goes well I hope to get my testers units this coming weekend.

Thanks for your patience while I work these things out - I want to deliver a top notch product but sometimes the last 1% can be the hardest!

The first 99% of the project is 99% of the work.

The last 1% of the project is the other 99% of the work.

Good on you for persevering! Can't wait to order one!
