@gsqrd , I'm in your camp. I also thought that I would see .50 by the first few days of Jan. I'm also fine with being at the end of the line just in case a bug shows up in the release ?.
As for today, I have mixed feelings. We're in blizzard conditions right now, and heading 5 hours into the mountains tomorrow. I'm content to stick with a stable release that's working well until we return.
Please don't stay off the forum because of a few sharply worded replies to your question. Overall, this is a friendly and welcoming community.
You're not at the end of the line, because there is no line yet. :)

Remember Microsoft releasing updates, we would click hell yah! Update me! Then came BSOD for many of us, panic we lost everything, but after we were back online we forget and update again. Thinking I am glad Microsoft does not make software for Rivian, or anyone for that matter ?

Don't let it get to you. I thought it had been released too with all the chatter before Christmas.

think there's more they're trying to fix behind the scenes--there's a thread on the fact that some of us who drive a bit longer duration are seeing our heating stop working (or act bizarrely partway through our trips) and service has confirmed it's supposed to be corrected in this upcoming update (which the initial release notes didn't include any HVAC improvements that I'd seen).
Yes!! I just returned from a short 3-day trip to Walla Walla in my R1T, and the heating performance was horrible.. it was all over the place temp wise and very frustrating... at one point it acted like it was on high and wouldn't adjust down. I had to turn it off to get it to reset. I hope fixes are coming soon.

Here's the thread on it if you haven't already seen it:

At least one person in there confirmed service advised them it'd be corrected via software:

Other than the heating issue, were there any issues getting there and back? Need to make that trip myself.

I was wondering same thing as you- venture to say many others were too. Thanks for asking. Lots of “frustrated“ forum members with self esteem issues - they make themselves feel better by posting responses like the one you received. Hang in there.

The internet in general, gotta have thicker skin, take what is good and not give a damn about the rest.

No,y ou are not alone in thinking that. I read and post frequently and I too wondered what's going on. You see .46 was released late because it was messed up. .46 was initially released internally begining of November as week 46 means 11/13 to 11/19 and to public end of November. it ended up crashing and bricking may so revised 46.1 was released in December. Version .50 is for week 50 so 12/11~12/17 so it should have been released to us by end of December so it's perfectly reasonable to wonder why we are not getting .50 yet and it's already begining of Januaray almost time for the 2024.02 limited release.

but I do see two contributing factor in delay of .50 to general public. Late 46.1 release and issue with .50 resulting in .50.1 version getting tested. Delays are compounding so we may have to skip Jan 24 release to be back on the monthly schedule.

So much misinformation here!

Releases happen every four weeks. That's been going on for more than two years now. The releases are numbered with the week when development of that release is STARTED - they are not pushed out to the public until 4 weeks later, then the next release is started. The only exception to this pattern, based on what they did at the beginning of 2022 and 2023, seems to be a two-week break in the sequence after the new year, probably for holidays.

For the most recent three releases, 2023.42 was STARTED in week 42 (week of 15 Oct) and pushed out four weeks later on 13 Nov, then 2023.46 was started in week 46 (week of 12 Nov) and pushed out four weeks later on 7 Dec, then 2023.50 was started in week 50 (week of 10 Dec). It is now 4 weeks after 2023.50 was started, so it's no coincidence that 2023.50 was just released.

Specifically,
  • .46 was NOT released late like you said. In fact, it was a couple of days early.
  • .46 was NOT "messed up" like you said. It was perfectly fine. (You're probably thinking of .42, which did have a big bug that affected 3% of users and was fixed in TWO DAYS, but did not affect the overall release schedule at all.)
  • .50 was NOT overdue at the time of your post like you said.
  • .50 was NOT released late like you predicted. It was released exactly on time.
  • "Delays" are NOT "compounding". Releases are being delivered on schedule as always. There is no "delay".
