Let me preface this comment/question by saying that my R2 is amazingly quiet in general. Very little road noise, no motor whine, no vibration or rattling, and the HVAC hasn't been noticeably loud yet either.

That said, because it is otherwise so quiet I have noticed that there is a constant oscillating sort of sound coming from the lower front/center cabin. The best way to describe it is something like a hard drive being accessed rapidly, or possibly a CPU fan sort of noise (I assume the car's computer is under there somewhere). If I have music and AC on I don't really notice it at all, but without those I can hear it pretty easily. Has anyone else noticed this noise? I could definitely see it being expected and within spec if everyone hears it but I want to make sure it's not just me. It's also entirely possible that my R1S made the same sound and I just never heard it because of all the other noises.

Other than this little nit pick the car is flawless and I love it so far.

Interesting, hadn’t thought of that possibility. But I hear the sound even when the vehicle is in park and I assume the pedestrian alert shouldn’t be playing in that case.

And you don't have the seat ventilation on?

Could be the heatpump. Even if you aren't running climate, the battery/computers may still need it.

Yeah this seems like the most likely answer. I don’t think I’ll even notice the sound once I’m past the brand new notice everything phase.

Can you hear anything from the outside when you notice this noise? If it is the heat pump's compressor I think you'd be able to hear that. It could also be coolant circulating over the CPU or something, though IDK if they have a passive radiant cooling or if they use the heat pump always.

Past videos with Rivian team members have said that while the heat pump is audible, they worked to make it far quieter than R1. Could easily be it.

Nice vehicle, would have liked to get the LG to match my R1S but was over ruled since it is not my primary vehicle.

We just picked up our R2 yesterday, not many miles on it but I do not hear the noise.

How hot and humid is it there? I know My R1S I can hear the vehicle trying to cool the batteries when it is over 90 degrees. Gets very loud as the ambient temps go past 103 degrees.

It’s only in the low 80s now but will be in the desert next week with temps in triple digits, I’ll listen for it when I’m out there.
