Sun Damage already? Advice for protecting it.

Hi,

We have had our R1T for a week and love it. On delivery day it was raining but over the past couple of days it’s been sunny. We are in Portland.

I have noticed a few spots on the trim that appear to be sun damaged? I think. Pic below.

I figured this would happen at some point but not this quick.
Any advice on products to use to minimize and restore/protect this?

Is that just wax residue?

I’ve scrubbed at it and can’t seem to get it off.
Also along the bed side.

Not really damaged, but it looks like some of the stuff impregnated in the plastic has faded. There are lots of products that do a good job of keeping black trim dark.

That is strange....I do know that every one of these trucks has some sort of white residue in the bed, etc....must be a soap of some kind but once it dries its tricky to get off.

I have scrubbed it multiple times and can't get it to go away........ill try and give it a good wash after I get back from camping this weekend and see if it makes a difference.

Worst case scenario....they just replace those pieces for you.

It almost looks like stain from polish. Did you have it detailed when you got it?

Looks like wax residue to me as well. I usually spend a lot of time and tape plastic because of this.

Have never tried pencell erasers but hear they work

Looks like the eraser trick made it look better, must be wax then. I’ll have to work to it all off, this was just a quick going over.
