Well I can definitely live with that vs the 5kw+ when first got truck 2 years ago. I assumed he was having much worse than 1kw.

Our Mach e is less than 1 kw but last update was 6 months ago and no monitoring. So I'll take the updates and monitoring.
No if you follow his threads, Rob was one of the VD elimination pioneers for the Gen 1s. We learned a lot about VD due to his efforts.

Didn’t they just recall all those jeeps and tell everyone to leave them parked outside so they don’t light on fire

Just wanted to mention I traded in my R1T for a Wrangler 4xe Rubicon yesterday.
The Jeep 4xe has about a 30 mile all battery (17kWh pack) range and a 340mi ICE range. It's got 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque with actual real lockers front and rear. That 30 mil battery range should suite me fine for probably 95% off my driving (I work from home). The dealer gave me $60K on the Rivian trade-in which in NY goes 100% to the pre-tax value of the new vehicle, so I actually will end up about $1,900 ahead once I file my taxes and get the $3,750 Fed tax credit early next year.

Jeep is trying to clear out 2024 models right now, so they have crazy incentives right now. The Rubicon was $71K, but with incentives it knocked $10K off so it was $61K before the $3,750 fed tax credit.

When trading it in, I forgot to give them the camp speaker as I replaced it with a draw a couple months back, I also forgot to give them the bag for the tonneau cover panels, I kept the NACS-J1772 adapter I just received two weeks ago, and I also kept the wristband because that did not come with my R1T. I guess I'll sell the NACS adapter as the Jeep only has level 2 charging.

I was a pre March price increase customer, after the fed tax credit I took in 2023, my R1T cost $68K, I had it for almost two full years and got $60K for it on the trade in, I consider that pretty decent.

Old ride meet new ride....

Total cost of ownership is arguably lower keeping an EV vs trading it in for a vehicle with a hybrid drivetrain made by Fiat-Chrysler.

Jeeps are fun if you take them off-road and modify them. Our other vehicle is a Bronco, so I get it. A jeep is still not worth $71K.

The way oil companies gouge SoCal and the state fuel tax making matters worse, I don't think I could ever go back to fossil fuels. Yes, I could adventure further with a hybrid, but too busy keeping a job and a roof over my head to go anywhere.

Yes, like the Chevy Bolt fires. The current Jeep recall covered vehicles manufactured up to Oct 2023, my Jeep was manufactured (according to it's door sticker) 1/2024. I also ran my VIN through the federal recall database... "no current recalls for this vehicle".

Have fun with the Jeep. My wife's other vehicle is a Bronco that we've had fun modding, along with cool evening drives.

Regarding VD something had to be amiss with yours. Both of ours barely lose a kw a night now and are less than our tesla. The Tesla we have to turn of Sentry while our Rivans have Gear Guard on. Who knows.
Probably nothing amiss with his Rivian. Most Gen 1 have about 1-1.5kwh vampire drain. Gen 2 should be better.
@emoore nailed it.. generally 1 to 1.5kWh loss/day, which is terrible because the vehicle is literally gobbling up electricity and doing nothing for the owner. At that rate, it could waste up to 547kWh per year. Keep in mind that the "average" residential home in the USA burns 10,800kWh per year, so the Rivian is burning 5% of your total energy consumption every month and not producing anything for it.

Well I can definitely live with that vs the 5kw+ when first got truck 2 years ago. I assumed he was having much worse than 1kw.
My (now former) R1T will turn 2 in Dec and I never, ever saw 5kWh loss in a day. Many updates ago, Rivian did a proximity update because the vehicle was sleeping too much and wouldn't wake easily vial PAAK or even fob commands. Those were the "good old days" because my R1T was only burning 0.5kWh/day at that time and I was actually ok with that. Then in a subsequent update they "fixed" the proximity issue which caused the truck to be awake 1 out of every 4 hours which severely drained the tiny 12V batts so then the truck had to stay awake just to recharge the 12V batts. It's a vicious cycle that is still going on today in all Gen1 R1's. I guess I kind of just had enough of that...

Thanks very much @iansriv, I'll miss the routine of finishing my morning work emails/stuff then hanging out here with a hot cup of coffee for the next couple of hours :crying:

I wouldn't buy a jeep for $71K either, but the end of model year the incentives brought the cost down to 61K, then I will qualify for and get the $3,750 Fed tax credit in Feb... so that brings my cost down to $57,250 which I thought reasonable for a highly loaded Rubicon.
